Two hydatidiform moles from Holstein cattle are reported. One was observed after the birth of a healthy calf and the second following abortion of a fetus with osteopetrosis.

Grooming behaviour patterns of domestic cattle on pasture were studied by observation of a small herd of cross-bred cows, their single-suckling calves and a bull. The investigation was accomplished by means of description of directly observed patterns as well as description from SP8 cinematographic recordings. An outbreak of acute myopathy occurred in a group of 23 Hereford cross and Aberdeen Angus cross 18-month-old heifers, running outside with a bull in February. One morning two were found recumbent, five were ataxic and one had fallen into a river and drowned. Subsequently two of the ataxic ones became recumbent. The occurrence of internal parasites in Washinton cattle was estimated. During the survey period in 1972 and 1973, more than 3,700 fecal samples from 29 herds and 4 feedlots, and viscera from 55 cattle were examined. The percentage of fecal samples with parasite eggs or oocysts from herds was as follows: oocysts, 77%; "strongyline" eggs, 44%; Nematodirus eggs, 3%; Moniezia eggs, 3%; Fasciola eggs, 2%; Trichuris eggs, 2%; and Dictyocaulus larvae, 1%. During the years 2012 to 2014, a total of 5 affected Simmental cattle showing persistent bleeding after minor or unknown trauma, were presented at the Clinic for Ruminants or at the Institute for Genetics of the Vetsuisse-Faculty, University of Berne.
