We demonstrate an interspecies entangling Rydberg gate between rubidium (Rb) and cesium (Cs) atoms with fidelity F=0.975±0.002. The two-species atom array enables in-place quantum nondemolition (QND) qubit measurements which are a key capability for quantum error correction. We demonstrate this functionality with multiatom error syndrome measurements achieving QND measurement fidelities of F_{QND}=0.933(12) and 0.865(17) for two- and three-qubit plaquettes, respectively.

Inorganic cesium lead halide perovskites have evoked wide popularity because of their excellent optoelectronic properties, high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield (PLQY), and narrowband emission. Here, cesium lead bromide (CsPbBr3 ) quantum dots (QDs) were synthesized via the ligand-assisted re-precipitation method. Post-synthesis treatment of CsPbBr3 QDs using antimony tribromide improved the PL stability and optoelectronic properties of the QDs. In addition, the PLQY of the post-treated sample was enhanced to 91% via post-treatment, and the luminescence observed was maintained for 8 days. …

From 1966 to 1977, 49 patients suffering from Peyronie's disease received percutaneous radiation treatment with 137 Cesium (137Cs). Therapy results were followed up for a period of from 2 months to 11 years. The method of 137Cs radiation is described and the results compared with other forms of therapy. Percutaneous radiation therapy with 137Cs seems to be the preferred treatment of Peyronie's disease because of its few side effects, rapid effectiveness, and low cost.

We have observed that a reagent combination of NaIO4 and NH2OH·HCl reacts with α,β-unsaturated ketones followed by the nucleophile ethylene glycol allowing the synthesis of 2,3-disubstituted 1,4-dioxanes using cesium carbonate as a base under Williamson ether synthesis. This reaction is useful for the synthesis of functionalized 1,4-dioxane having a carbonyl functionality. A variety of 2,3-disubstituted 1,4-dioxanes have been synthesized using these reaction conditions. A probable reaction mechanism has also been proposed.

To circumvent the synthesis and isolation of imines, a method was devised to construct α,α-difluoro-β-amino ketones from N-Boc-α-amidosulfones. The reactive nucleophiles, difluoroenolates, are generated in situ from the pentafluoro-gem-diols using cesium fluoride in pyridine. NMR studies confirm the role of the α-amidosulfones in this process. Incubation of the α,α-difluoro-β-amino ketones in rat serum demonstrates the relative stability of this structure as well as its value as a chemical probe or lead.

After the nuclear accident of Chernobyl, in the population of zones contaminated the malignant renal tumors was increased from 4.7 to 7.5 per 100,000 of total population. Cesium 137 (137Cs) constitutes 80-90% of the internal exposure of these people as well as eliminated through kidneys becomes an important risk factor. We present a case of a patient, residing in radiocontamined area, who consulted for abdominal pain and left flank mass. We review relevant literature and the management of these patients.

A study is presented of 51 patients (age 52-77 years) suffering of uterine body cancer with marked extragenital pathology. It is shown that treatment of inoperable cancer of the uterine body using the SELECTRON apparatus for contact irradiation (cesium-137 source, 066-MEV photons). With this method exact dose control is possible. The preferred regime of dose fractionation in intracavitary radiation of endometrium cancer is a single dose of 1000 cGr weekly and a summary dose of 7000-8000 cGr.

Only the three leptophages LE1, LE3, and LE4 or bacteriophages of leptospires, are known to date. However, numerous prophages have been found in this genus, particularly in the genomes of pathogenic species. Consequently, some laboratories attempt to isolate leptophage particles from environmental samples or from bacterial cultures following mitomycin C induction. Here, we present several procedures for isolating, purifying, and characterizing bacteriophages based on the leptophages characterization protocols.

We have developed an afterloading procedure using Cs needle for tongue carcinoma. Seven patients with T1-2NO squamous cell carcinoma of the oral tongue were treated by this method at the Oita Medical University between 1988 and 1994. This method reduced the radiotherapist's radiation exposure and resulted in good local control in the primary site. We have found no other report of a case treated in this way. We emphasize that cesium therapy using an afterloading procedure is very useful in treating tongue carcinoma.

We carried out rec assays on 127 metal compounds with Bacillus subtilis to check their DNA-damaging capacity and mutagenicity. Certain compounds of beryllium, cobalt, cesium, iridium, osmium, platinum, rhodium, antimony, tellurium, thallium and vanadium were newly found to be positive in addition to those of known positive metals such as arsenic, cadmium, chromium, mercury, molybdenum and selenium. Reverse mutation assays with Escherichia coli and Salmonella strains showed that compounds of rhodium (RhCl3), tellurium (Na2H4TeO6, Na2TeO3) and platinum (PtCl4, (NH4)2PtCl6) are potent mutagens.
