Will psychology ever 'join hands' with disability studies? Opportunities and challenges in working towards structurally competent and disability-affirmative psychotherapy for energy limiting conditions.

Despite sustained efforts among critically informed scholars to integrate thinking from disability studies into psychology, the psy disciplines continue to largely neglect the lived experience of disabled people and overlook disability as a form of social inequity and valued culture. In this article, I make a renewed case for integrating thinking from disability studies into psy, in particular within the psychotherapy professions and in the case of 'energy limiting conditions', a grass-roots concept that includes clinically and socially marginalised chronic illness such as Long COVID. The Conditional Protective Role of Psychological Resilience: School Bullying Climate, Emotional Regulation Difficulties, and Mobile Phone Dependence Among Left-Behind Children.

School bullying climate is a known risk factor for adolescent mobile phone dependence, yet the mechanisms linking these two constructs and the boundary conditions of protective factors remain underexplored. The present study aimed to examine the mediating role of emotional regulation difficulties in the relationship between school bullying climate and mobile phone dependence among left-behind children, as well as the moderating role of psychological resilience in this mediating pathway. The final analytical sample consisted of 300 left-behind children who completed two waves of surveys separat

The effect of self-efficacy, health-related quality of life, psychological distress, and age on transition readiness in adolescents and young adults with chronic health conditions.

OBJECTIVE: More children with chronic health conditions are surviving into adulthood and transitioning to adult healthcare settings. To reduce poor healthcare transition outcomes, it is essential to consider predictors of readiness to transition. The current study examined whether youth-reported self-efficacy, health-related quality of life, and psychological distress were associated with parent/caregiver-reported transition readiness in a sample of adolescents and young adults (AYAs) who had at least one chronic physical or mental health condition. METHODS: The sample comprised 58 AYAs (Mage

Individual Variation in Pain Sensitivity and Conditioned Pain Modulation in Acute Low Back Pain: Effect of Stimulus Type, Sleep, and Psychological and Lifestyle Factors.

UNLABELLED: Generalized hyperalgesia and impaired pain modulation are reported in chronic low back pain (LBP). Few studies have tested whether these features are present in the acute phase. This study aimed to test for differences in pain presentation in early-acute LBP and evaluate the potential contribution of other factors to variation in sensitivity. Individuals within 2 weeks of onset of acute LBP (n = 126) and pain-free controls (n = 74) completed questionnaires related to their pain, disability, behavior, and psychological status before undergoing conditioned pain modulation (CPM) and p

Psychological and behavioral mechanisms linking childhood trauma profiles to voice-related distress in schizophrenia spectrum disorders: latent class, mediation, and conditional process analyses.

BACKGROUND: Childhood traumas increase the risk of psychosis and voice-hearing. While trauma profiles have been identified in voice-hearers, pathways linking these to voice-related distress remain unclear. This study examined between-group differences in mediation by psychological and behavioral variables in profile-distress associations, with potential moderation by gender. METHODS: This cross-sectional study derived childhood trauma profiles via latent class analysis of Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) scores from 266 voice-hearing Challenge trial participants with schizophrenia-spectru
