The distribution of peripheral blood T lymphocytes in 35 patients aged 16 to 49 years with genital warts was studied. Patients with genital warts were found to be less responsive than a control group, and this deficiency was related to duration of genital wart infection. 11 patients affected with long lasting genital warts were treated with interferon. The results are reported and briefly discussed.

Twenty-eight patients were treated by cryotherapy for cervical condylomata acuminata during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Most required two treatment sessions before the condylomata resolved. All women responded favorably and none had residual disease at six weeks' postpartum. No neonate was affected. Cryotherapy for cervical condylomata acuminata had no identifiable adverse effect on pregnancy. There were no cases of rupture of membranes or labor starting as a consequence of treatment. The effectiveness of intraurethral 5-fluorouracil and systemic administration of interferon-alpha 2a in the therapy of condylomata acuminata or flat condylomata of the urethra is assessed. From March 1986 to September 1991, 1,372 male sexual partners of women with condylomata acuminata, flat condylomata or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia underwent urethroscopy and brush cytological examination of the urethra. Two cases of condylomata acuminata gigantea treated with cryosurgery are described. A clinical and histologic differentiation from Buschke-Loewenstein's tumours, sex-specific differences, possible malignant transformations and differential diagnostic diseases are described and references are made to confusions with condyloma-like, primary carcinomas. Within a period of 15 months, 134 patients suffering from condylomata acuminata were investigated with regard to simultaneous infection with HIV. 3 of these patients--2 showing warts in the anal region, 1 on the glans penis--were found positive for anti-HIV antibodies.
