BACKGROUND: Materials for pulpotomy have evolved to materials which can regenerate the pulp. Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) potentially shifts the pulpal status and promotes dentin bridge formation. Newer MTAs in premixed form are resistant to dislodgment providing excellent sealability. Premixed Injectable MTA can be directly applied on the pulpal stumps promoting ease of workability and patient convenience.

Crown reduction and vital pulp therapy is an accepted treatment for abnormal occlusion resulting in palatal trauma caused by malpositioned mandibular canine teeth in dogs and cats. This article describes use of mineral trioxide aggregate for vital pulp therapy after crown reduction. A list of materials and commonly used equipment is provided.

This study aims to retrospectively evaluate the differences in dental treatments rendered in general anesthesia (GA) for patients who did or did not receive application of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) prior to GA. 1559 patients (≤6 years) who completed treatment with GA for caries at University of California San Francisco (UCSF) between 2015 and 2019 were included in the study. When patients have persistent oral complaints, it is important to consider allergic contact dermatitis to dental components. We present 3 cases seen at the Ottawa Hospital Patch Test Clinic between 2007 and 2009 with persistent oral lesions.
