Genital lymphatic filariasis (LF) is a condition that can present both acutely and chronically, complicating its diagnosis due to nonspecific symptoms. Acute infective epididymitis is the most common cause for scrotal pain in adults. The severe course of the disease requires immediate antimicrobial management, comprised antibiotic treatment and supportive measures. Patients with chronic indwelling catheters and developing epididymitis show a more severe clinical course compared to patients without a catheter. Although it is common clinical practice to place a catheter for the treatment of a systemic infectious condition of the genitourinary tract, there is only limited evidence of support due to the absence of clinical trials.

A case of seminal vesicle-rectal fistula is reported. A 74-year-old Japanese man was admitted to our hospital due to repeated right scrotal swelling and high fever with pneumaturia. A diagnosis of the right acute epididymitis was made. Bilateral vesiculography showed contrast medium leakage to the rectum, and colonoscopy revealed ostium of the fistula in the anterior wall of the rectum. Symptoms were improved by extirpation of the right scrotal contents.

We report the occurrence of epididymitis and orchitis 1 week after the onset of Listeriosis in an 11-month-old boy receiving an orthotopic liver transplantation for biliary atresia. The records of 119 children and adolescents on clean intermittent catheterisation (CIC) were reviewed to assess the incidence and predisposing factors, if any, of epididymo-orchitis. CIC had been performed for a total of 448 patient years with a mean of 4.5 years (range 3 months to 19 years).
