BACKGROUND: Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a core competency in contemporary nursing; however, the academic-to-clinical transition represents a critical period during which self-reported EBP engagement and associated research activity may diverge. Limited evidence exists on how these characteristics differ between senior nursing students and clinical interns within the same single-institution educational context.
METHODS: A comparative cross-sectional, between-group study was conducted among 260 undergraduate nursing learners at Northern Border University, Saudi Arabia, comprising 118 fourt

BACKGROUND: Indwelling urinary catheters are commonly used in intensive care units. Urinary leakage around catheters may occur in critically ill patients because of mechanical ventilation, sedation and analgesia, constipation, increased intra abdominal pressure, bladder spasm, and altered consciousness. Nurses require adequate knowledge and skills to prevent and manage urinary leakage.
AIM: This study aimed to reduce urinary leakage among ICU patients by developing and implementing a nurse led, evidence based Urinary Leakage Bundle.
METHODS: The Evidence-based Continuous Quality Improvement

The aim of the study is to discuss the emancipatory approach to action research as an appropriate methodology for workers' meaningful implementation of evidence-based health care. Implementation of evidence-based health care using action research is well supported by the literature. There are various approaches to action research, and they are coherent with the objectives and methods elected to develop the investigation. It is not clear which approach of action research is responsible for meaningful worker engagement in changing praxis. This is a discussion paper based on our experiences and s

Evaluating, diagnosing, and managing patients with consumptive thrombocytopenia is challenging because of the overlapping nature of many of the diseases that reduce platelet counts. Immune thrombocytopenia (and its variations), drug-induced immune thrombocytopenia, and heparin-induced thrombocytopenia result from autoimmune antibody-mediated destruction of platelets. Thrombotic thrombocytopenia (both congenital and acquired) and the hemolytic uremic syndromes (both typical and atypical) are thrombotic microangiopathies associated with platelet aggregation and consumption along with anemia and

BACKGROUND: Interactions with the microenvironment, such as bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells and nurse-like cells, protect chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells from spontaneous and drug-induced apoptosis. This protection is partially mediated by the chemokine SDF-1α (CXCL12) and its receptor CXCR4 (CD184) present on the chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell surface.
DESIGN AND METHODS: Here, we investigated the ability of AMD3100, a CXCR4 antagonist, to sensitize chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells to chemotherapy in a chronic lymphocytic leukemia/mesenchymal stromal cell based or nurse-like ce
