We report the concomitant occurrence of erythema elevatum diutinum and specific skin lesions in a patient with a myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). This patient's course, and review of other reported cases, support the opinion that neutrophilic dermatoses are associated with a poor prognosis of MDS. The simultaneous appearance of these manifestations could be the consequence of a particular chemotactism of myeloid cells, expressed after acute transformation.

Porokeratosis plantaris, palmaris et disseminata is an autosomal dominant genodermatosis characterized by multiple lesions on the palms and soles, and later on other areas, both sun-exposed and non-sun-exposed. We report a 66-year-old man with porokeratosis plantaris, palmaris et disseminata whose disease had an unusual evolution. To our knowledge this is the first case of the disease in which the lesions first appeared on the trunk and extremities and later involved the palms and soles.

Juvenile plantar dermatosis, which is sometimes accompanied by palmar changes, is a chronic condition. It is characterized by shiny redness, anhidrosis, and fissuring of the skin. Microscopically, focal inflammatory changes at the junctions of sweat-gland ducts and acrosyringia are seen. The pathogenesis is unknown. We surmise that individual susceptibility, bacterial colonization, and the use of man-made leather substitutes and fibers are the main causative factors.

A 5-month-old male was examined in our dermatology clinic with numerous palmoplantar milia. The child had early congenital syphilis with palmoplantar desquamation, which was followed by the development of milia. Histologic and electron microscopic features suggested that these secondary milia probably derived from the epidermis.

A young man presented with multiple Subcutaneous nodules over scalp, hand, feet and osteolytic lesions of small bones of hand. Clinically and radiologically he was diagnosed as a case of Giant Cell Tumour. Aspiration cytology and biopsy proved it to be rhinosporidiosis. Epidemiological study revealed that he perhaps contracted this infection as an occupational hazard. This is the third reported case of osteolytic lesions due to rhinosporidiosis. Diagnostic dilemmas of subcutaneous and osteolytic rhinosporidiosis are discussed.

BACKGROUND: Onychomycosis is a common nail infection caused by dermatophytes, non-dermatophyte molds (NDM), and yeasts. Aspergillus species are emerging as increasing causes of toenail onychomycosis. The purpose of this study was species delineation of Aspergillus spp. isolated from patients with onychomycosis.
METHODS: During a period of one year (2012-2013), nail samples were collected from patients clinically suspected of onychomycosis and subjected to microscopic examination and culture. Species identification was performed based on macro- and micro-morphology of colonies. For precise spe

The majority of patients with psoriasis benefit from ultraviolet radiation exposure, but psoriasis can deteriorate on exposure to sunlight in some people. We report a patient with longstanding palmoplantar psoriasis that showed an unusual evolution into photoaggravated psoriasis, with change of distribution from the palmar to the dorsal aspect of the hands, and confirmation by photoprovocation with solar-simulated radiation. The onset of photosensitivity should be suspected in patients with hand and foot psoriasis showing a similar change in distribution.

Chromoblastomycosis is one of the most frequent infections caused by melanized fungi. It is a subcutaneous fungal infection, usually an occupational related disease, mainly affecting individuals in tropical and temperate regions. Although several species are etiologic agents, Fonsecaea pedrosoi and Cladophialophora carrionii are prevalent in the endemic areas. Chromoblastomycosis lesions are polymorphic and must be differentiated from those associated with many clinical conditions. Diagnosis is confirmed by the observation of muriform cells in tissue and the isolation and the identification of

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The number of people affected by onychomycosis continues to increase. The prevalence of different pathogens in different areas depends on several factors, such as climate, geography and migration. We reviewed the recent literature to identify new agents responsible for onychomycosis.
RECENT FINDINGS: Recent studies performed in different countries are not only reporting molds and yeasts as contaminants, but are increasingly reporting them as pathogens. Infection by novel agents is also being reported, although the individual cases do not necessarily indicate that these are

A patient on long term parenteral nutrition developed acrodermatitis enteropathica-like skin changes. Just as in the autosomal recessive disorder, acrodermatitis enteropathica, the lesions in our patient were caused by zinc deficiency. Replacement therapy with zinc led to rapid improvement.
