In pseudohypoparathyroidism type I pharmacologic dosis of vitamin-D can correct hypocalcemia. Several authors who had investigated vitamin-D-metabolism in these patients, found impaired renal conversion of 25-hydroxyvitamin-D to 1,25-dihydroxy-vitamin-D. Treatment of 2 patients with pseudohypoparathyroidism type I with vitamin-D-3 and 1 alpha-Hydroxycholecalciferol consecutively resulted in a nonuniform response with regard to the normalisation of serum-calcium. This led us to the conclusion that the disturbances of vitamin-D-metabolism in pseudohypoparathyroidism type I is heterogenous.

The vitamin D state of 60 apparently healthy adult Hindu Asian couples living in Britain was studied on a community basis. A bone histological investigation was performed in 20 mondialyzed patients with chronic renal failure and a glomerular filtration rate of 5.1--31.9 ml/min. We report 2 cases of ileal replacement of the ureters: 1 bilateral and 1 unilateral with a single kidney. Hyperchloremic acidosis developed in both patients and osteomalacia was proved by iliac bone biopsy. The binding properties towards vitamin D metabolites of plasma from individuals with the three common Gc-globulin phenotypes, Gc-1, Gc-2 and Gc-2-1, have been found to be identical. In patients with liver disease there is a good correlation between the levels of Gc-globulin andalbumin in plasma.
