Value Stream Mapping-Guided Optimization of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Nursing in Geriatric Orthopedics: A Controlled Study.

This study investigated whether value stream mapping (VSM)-guided optimization of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) nursing could improve nursing efficiency and reduce waiting time in geriatric orthopedic patients. A non-synchronous controlled study included 105 elderly orthopedic inpatients. The control group (n = 53) received conventional ERAS nursing, whereas the experimental group (n = 52) received an optimized nursing package developed after VSM-based workflow diagnosis, including centralized preoperative examination scheduling, standardized process management, visual dashboards, mul

Co-Producing Peritoneal Dialysis Nursing Sensitive Indicators for Quality Care: A Multinational Consensus Building Design.

BACKGROUND: Nursing sensitive indicators are a way of measuring aspects of patient care that are most affected by the actions of the nurse. Despite the existence of nursing sensitive indicators, these are largely not suitable to measure peritoneal dialysis nursing practice. OBJECTIVE: This project aimed to co-develop a set of peritoneal dialysis nursing-sensitive indicators. DESIGN: Informed by the Donabedian quality framework (structure, process, outcome), a multinational co-production consensus design was used. PARTICIPANTS AND MEASUREMENTS: First, an expert panel of seven professionals p

Evidence summary and nurse-led algorithm development of clinical guidance documents on sexual health for female breast cancer survivors: A systematic review.

AIM: To develop a nurse-led clinical algorithm based on recommendations from high- and average-quality clinical guidance documents (CGDs), using the nursing process as a framework, to standardize sexual healthcare for female breast cancer survivors (FBCS) and clarify core nursing roles in multidisciplinary care. BACKGROUND: Sexual health is a prevalent yet frequently neglected concern among FBCS, significantly impacting their quality of life. Current evidence-summary literature synthesizes recommendations from CGDs, yet often fails to translate them into executable clinical pathways due to th…

Nursing care system development for patients with cleft lip-palate and craniofacial deformities in Srinagarind Hospital: pre-post operation.

BACKGROUND: Cleft lip and palate are the most common craniofacial anomalies. Srinagarind Hospital has 150-200 cases each year. The operating process of care requires continuity of care involving a multidisciplinary team. When the patients go to hospital to have operation, pain, limited activity and food are very different from normal life. During pre and post operative care nurses who work continuously and closely with the patients should have knowledge, experience and ability to take excellent care of their patients and families. This can prevent complications and help their decision process,

Image, measure, figure: a critical discourse analysis of nursing practices that develop children.

Motivated by discourses that link early child development and health, nurses engage in seemingly benign surveillance of children. These practices are based on knowledge claims and technologies of developmental science, which remain anchored in assumptions of the child body as an incomplete form with a universal developmental trajectory and inherent potentiality. This paper engages in a critical discursive analysis, drawing on Donna Haraway's conceptualizations of technoscience and figuration. Using a contemporary developmental screening tool from nursing practice, this analysis traces the effe

The quality of nursing home care in Taiwan.

This study describes the quality of care in nursing homes in Taiwan using demographic data, functional status measures, resident clinical care outcomes, and resident's ratings of satisfaction with nursing home care. Three hundred and eight randomly selected elderly residents in 13 nursing homes were interviewed through a structured interview process and demographic and medical information was collected from their nursing home records. Nursing home residents were younger and less functional than their counterparts in the United States. Stroke and dementia were the most common primary diagnoses

Barriers and Facilitators Influencing Nurses' Confidence in Managing Family Nursing Conversations in the Treatment of Chronic Noncancer Pain: A Longitudinal Qualitative Study.

This mixed-methods research examined the translation of a family nursing conversation intervention to the multidisciplinary treatment of patients experiencing chronic noncancer pain. The intervention required educating nurses who offered family nursing interventions to these families. The research uncovered barriers and facilitators influencing the nurses' perceived self-efficacy related to the process of incorporating family nursing conversations in their nursing care. A qualitative, descriptive, longitudinal design with three focus group interviews was implemented. A template analysis, using

Elder-family caregiver relationships. Determining appropriate nursing interventions.

Providing excellent care to elders involves more than the nurse's ability to minister to them; it is dependent on nurses' focusing assessment and intervention on the elder-caregiver dyad. Only by planning nursing care within the context of the dyad and considering the needs of the elder, the caregiver, and the unit, is it possible for nursing to realize its potential for improving the care of all elderly clients.

Becoming a nurse: pedagogical care and professional formation in a concept-based curriculum.

OBJECTIVES: To explore how students navigate the emotional, relational, and structural dimensions of learning the nursing profession within a concept-based curriculum (CBC). METHODS: Guided by Husserlian phenomenology and Wenger's Social Theory of Learning, van Manen's hermeneutic approach informed conversational interviews with eight final-year nursing students. FINDINGS: Becoming a nurse emerged as a process fueled by reciprocity of care and marked by personal transformation, reflected in evolving experiences of personhood, understanding, and growth. Five experiential structures shaped the

A study of the dependency of elderly patients in wards using different methods of nursing care.

Geriatric wards using individualized care (nursing process) were compared with task allocation wards in three hospitals. Patient dependency was measured using the CAPE scales. Patients admitted to the wards were similar in dependency but patients who had been in hospital for more than a month were significantly less dependent if they had been cared for in individualized care wards. Patient turnover was slower in task allocation wards, and the ratio of discharges to deaths was lower. Several nursing practices were seen to be pushing patients into dependency. The findings indicate that a conside…
