Neuroendocrine adenomas are rare tumors, which can appear in the middle ear. Approximately a hundred cases have been reported in the literature. We report the case of a 58-year-old man who consulted for an abnormal sensation of fullness in the right ear. The otoscopic examination showed a retrotympanic tumefaction. Otorrhagia is commonly associated with cranial trauma and diving accidents. In some forensic manuals, bleeding in the ears is anecdotally associated with strangulation. We report 2 cases of criminal strangulation with hemotympanum and otorrhagia, emphasizing the importance of this sign with strangulation. We present the proposed pathophysiology of the injuries and the value of otoscopic evaluation to complete the external examination in forensic cases suspicious for strangulation.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to describe the prevalence and characteristics of hearing loss in school-aged children in an urban South African population.
METHOD: Children from grade one to three from five schools in the Gauteng Province of South Africa formed a representative sample for this study. All children underwent otoscopic examinations, tympanometry and pure tone screening (25dB HL at 1, 2 and 4kHz). Children who failed the screening test and 5% of those who passed the screening test underwent diagnostic audiometry.

A German Shepherd dog was presented to a referral practice for screwworm myiasis affecting the ear. The successful management involved killing the larvae with afoxolaner plus milbemycin oxime and using video otoscopy to completely remove dead larvae. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report of auricular myiasis by Chrysomya bezziana in a dog in Singapore and the first report of video otoscopic management of myiasis.

Curiosine solution was used in surgical treatment of 80 patients with chronic otitis media purulenta early after the intervention. Otoscopic, cytological and bacteriological examinations have demonstrated that the drug creates physiological conditions for activation, migration and division of cells participating in tissue regeneration, it promotes bacterial decontamination of the wound. Curiosine can be used after radical operations on the middle ear.

The article presents a casuistic clinical observation of the treatment of a child aged 1 year 10 months with a dermoid cyst of the middle ear. The diagnosis was established on the basis of computed tomography and histological examination of the mass. Surgical treatment was performed in the volume of a separate attic-anthromastoidotomy with removal of the formation and one-stage type III tympanoplasty. In the catamnesis, the child's condition is satisfactory, the otoscopic picture shows no signs of inflammation.

We describe 3 infants with congenital dacryocystocele resistant to conservative treatment who were treated with a novel, simple intranasal cyst marsupialization (ICM) technique. Otoscopy-guided ICM was performed by an otolaryngologist in the manner of otoscopic myringotomy for cases with nasal cyst distension. All 3 infants were treated successfully by a single surgical procedure under topical anesthesia in an office setting.
