Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is characterized by lipid granuloma in the long tubular bones, which leads to pathognomonic symmetrical sclerosis of their metaphyses and diaphyses. Lipid granuloma may also be present in numerous other mesenchymal tissues, especially lung, orbit and retroperitoneal space. The clinical course and prognosis of the disease depend on these lesions. Reviewing 30 cases published since 1931 and a personal case with S100 positive cells, we present the typical radiological and clinical findings. There is striking resemblance to chronic disseminated histiocytosis X.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to detect differences in regional areas of the corpus callosum (CC) in subjects with early-onset minor depression (dysthymia or depressive personality disorder) and healthy comparison subjects. Based on previous reports that have suggested reduced frontal lobe volume and reduced hemispheric lateralization in the frontal regions of the brain in depression, we hypothesized that the area of the CC that interconnects the frontal regions of the brain, i.e., the genu, will be smaller compared to that of healthy comparison subjects.

OBJECTIVES: Episodic memory deficits are both common and impactful among persons infected with HIV; however, we know little about how to improve such deficits in the laboratory or in real life. As part of a larger investigation of inhalational toxic exposures, we studied occupationally related cases in order to examine possible preventive strategies. We analyzed data from 224 structured interviews. Of the interviewed subjects, 48 (21%) reported closed space exposures and 44 (20%) concomitant skin exposure at the time of inhalation.
