Healthcare institutions often turn to training organisations to train healthcare workers in an intercultural healthcare approach. The culturalist approach, usually expected from such training, is not always the most suitable. Working on differences provides a better understanding of the representations of patients and helps to avoid prejudices.

Osteogenesis imperfecta may be difficult to differentiate from nonaccidental trauma. Social history may prejudice the physician in favor of or against considering the diagnosis of child abuse. Three cases of osteogenesis imperfecta that were initially diagnosed as nonaccidental trauma are presented. The availability of biochemical analysis of type I collagen was instrumental in confirming the diagnosis of osteogenesis imperfecta in all three cases.

It is a known fact that dracunculiasis (guinea worm infection) can be controlled through the provision of clean water. This case report elucidates some of the problems militating against the effectiveness of such a control method in a rural and illiterate community. Trans people experience higher rates of chronic disease, across multiple health systems. This increased risk is driven by chronic stress from prejudice, discrimination, and violence. Exposure to chronic stress alters one's physiology and increases vulnerability to chronic disease. As the most trusted health professionals, nurses can play a unique role in addressing interpersonal and structural stressors by creating affirming clinical environments and advocating for policy change.
