AIM: To present in human cadavers the anatomical basis of penis lengthening operations and reproduce this technique in a group of patients.
MATERIALS OF STUDY: Penis ligaments in ten human cadavers were identified and dissected releasing the penis from its fixation to pubic arch. The same technique was applied to a group of forty patients that demanded a penis lengthening operation.

Cloacal exstrophy is the most severe type of anorectal malformations that belongs to the bladder-exstrophy-epispadias complex of genitourinary malformations. Interestingly, its variant, the covered cloacal exstrophy, is often missed. The clinical findings of this variant may include an imperforate anus, low lying umbilicus, thick pubic bone, and pubic diastasis but with an intact abdominal wall. We present an interesting case of covered cloacal exstrophy with a side-by-side duplicated bladder and discuss important considerations for the time of colostomy creation in the newborn period.

In a series of 35 cases, I used a relatively uncommon but simple operation to correct urinary stress incontinence by the abdominal route. The operation is known as vesicourethrolysis and consists of dissection of the tissues in the space of Retzius. This establishes an anatomical urethrovesical angle without suturing and relieves urinary stress incontinence. The operation was first described in 1951 by Mulvaney, and although it has been done by others since, apparently with good results, the operation has never gained great popularity. A 76-year-old woman with classical rheumatoid arthritis presented with a left groin mass associated with radiologic erosion of the adjacent bony public ramus. The hip joint was not involved. Computerized tomography showed an encapsulated cyst of the pubic ramus that was surgically excised and measured about 6 x 8 cm. Histologic examination of the cystic mass and adjacent bone showed marked avascular necrosis, surrounded by an acute necrotizing vasculitis with fibrinoid necrosis. We postulate that, in this case, rheumatoid vasculitis caused an avascular necrosis of the pubic ramus.
