In a recent issue of Nature, Hoeffel et al. describe a novel pathway of sterile tissue repair utilizing a mouse model of sunburn. This wound healing pathway is coordinated by sensory neuron-derived TAFA4 that induces IL-10 production from Tim4+ dermal macrophages to prevent sustained inflammation and the emergence of tissue fibrosis.

More and more women opt for breast reconstruction with autologous tissue after breast removal. Reconstruction with a deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap is the most common technique. In this operation, the nerves of the DIEP flap are cut. This creates a denervated reconstructed breast which is not only numb, but also lacks autonomic response. We described the simultaneous occurrence of perinaevic eczema (Meyerson's naevi) and Sutton's halo naevus in one patient. Characteristic clinical and histological features of perinaevic eczema were found around four benign melanocytic naevi on the limbs.
