Hyalinzing clear cell carcinoma is a rare tumor of the oral cavity and is even more rarely located in the tonsil. Here, we present a case report of a pedunculated tonsillar mass in a nearly asymptomatic patient that was present for 2 years prior to removal. Complete surgical excision was achieved and no adjuvant therapy was recommended. We include a discussion of this rare pathology and its typical clinical presentation and course.

Lipomas are benign tumors composed of mature fat cells. They occur frequently in subcutaneous tissue but rarely in the upper aerodigestive tract. Tonsillar lipomas are rare. To our knowledge, there are only six documented cases in the English literature. Here, we present the case of a 46-year-old Taiwanese female with a submerged oval yellowish mass in her left palatine tonsil. She received tonsillectomy and the pathologic diagnosis was tonsillar lipoma. The clinical presentation, management and literature review are also presented.

Lipomas are common benign connective tissue tumours composed of adult adipose tissue. They are relatively rare in the upper aerodigestive tract, although they occur with considerable frequency in other areas, particularly in the subcutaneous tissues of the neck. Although there are several reports of this tumour occurring in the oropharynx, there is no recorded case of a lipoma of the tonsillar fossa. An 83-year-old man with a left tonsillar fossa lipoma is presented. Clinical presentation, management and a literature review are discussed.

We describe a case of solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma of the oropharynx growing on the left posterior tonsillar pillar. The clinical picture was difficulty in swallowing caused from the partial obstruction of the area and bleeding from the ulcerated tumor. Lambda light chains were identified on immunohistochemical staining but they were not detected in either serum or urine (non-secreting tumor). Excisional biopsy followed by radiation therapy were used for treatment. Long-term follow up for several years is necessary in order to rule out evolution to multiple myeloma.

This synthesis of the literature on radiotherapy for head and neck cancer is based on 424 scientific articles, including 3 meta-analyses, 38 randomized studies, 45 prospective studies, and 246 retrospective studies. Carcinoma tonsil with visceral metastasis is a rare entity, and cutaneous metastasis is seen even more infrequently. We present a case of a 55-year-old male with carcinoma tonsil having received concurrent chemo radiotherapy, presenting with multiple cutaneous metastases to the scalp and thigh. To the best of our knowledge, till date only two similar cases of carcinoma tonsil with cutaneous metastasis have been reported in the English literature.

Oral metastases from hepatocellular carcinomas are rare. Case 1 was a 66-year-old male without previous history of liver disease who presented with metastasis to the gingival jaw mucosae on the lingual side. In the present study a re-classification of 96 lymphomas of the epipharynx and the mesopharynx including tonsils, paranasal sinuses and neck region was performed using the Kiel-classification. The histological criteria employed for this procedure were described briefly. 33 cases could be diagnosed as lymphomas of low grade malignancy, 50 cases belonged to the group of high grade malignancy and 13 cases remained unclassifiable. The patient is 51-year-old male. A tumor arose on the upper eye lid at the age of 44 years and 6 years later, a tumor arose on the forearm. The tumor recurred 3 times on the forearm and were resected each times. When he was 51 years old, 3 tumors arose on the upper arm.
