OBJECTIVE: Accurate, precise and robust HPLC method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of long-acting β2 agonist drugs (formoterol fumarate, salmeterol xinafoate and vilanterol trifenatate) along with two organic counterparts (xinafoic acid and triphenyl acetic acid) and inhaled corticosteroids (fluticasone propionate and fluticasone furoate).

BACKGROUND: In the last two years several cases of severe contact dermatitis related to newly acquired sofas and armchairs originating from China have been published. The responsible allergen is dimethylfumarate (DMF), an extremely potent sensitizer and irritant found in sachets inside the furniture. Recently, cases of contact dermatitis related to shoes and riding helmets have also been described.
METHODS: We evaluated two patients with allergic contact dermatitis related to shoes manufactured in China that were contaminated by dimethylfumarate found in sachets placed inside the shoeboxes.

The dynamics of avirulant lac+KCP- hybrids Sh. flexneri multiplication was investigated in minimal medium in the presence of some tricarboxylic acid cycle intermediates (fumarate, succinate, malate) and pyruvate. It was established that in spite of the loss of virulence in the rate of the multiplication of the hybrid strains, in comparison with that of the virulent recipient strains of Sh. flexneri, considerable differences were not observed.

Carboxylate substituents added to the salicylate ring increase the effectiveness of a variety of aspirins and diaspirins in acylating hemoglobin. Even more effective are a series of monoesters of dicarboxylate derivatives. Bis(5-carbomethoxysalicyl)fumarate and -succinate at 5 mM concentrations modify approximately 100% of the hemoglobin in solution and should alter the aggregation behavior of sickle hemoglobin.

Although the use of tenofovir alafenamide (TAF), a new prodrug of tenofovir, was safe and efficacious in clinical trials, real-world data from multimorbid individuals are scarce. Among 10 persons living with HIV with previous tenofovir disoproxil fumarate-induced nephrotoxicity, renal function remained stable, and proteinuria decreased in several patients after the switch to TAF.
