Salmonella Goldcoast (SGC), an uncommon serotype in Germany, was identified in 25 isolates between 1 April and 7 May 2001. To determine the cause of the outbreak, we conducted a matched case-control study including 24 cases and 51 controls. A multi-centre, population-based case-control study of lymphoma among adults was conducted in Germany from 1999-2003. The study comprised 700 incident cases (Hodgkin lymphomas and non Hodgkin's lymphoma, NHL) in the age range 18-80 years and 700 age-, sex- and area-matched controls obtained from population registries. During excavation in 1931 by Riek in the cave of Vogelherd close to Stetten in the Lone Valley in southwestern Germany there was found an anatomically modern human skull (called: "Stetten 2") dated 32500 years before present. The skull was excavated without postcranial skeleton in the cave and showed no signs of burial. Paleopathological examinations of the calvarium reveals skeletal abnormalities that indicate parasagittal meningioma next to the bregma. Knowledge concerning the prevalence of the tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) in wild living tick populations is very important for understanding the epidemiology of the disease and for immuno prophylactic strategy. The results of a classification of the aetiology of visual impairment and mental retardation in a series of 239 multihandicapped blind and partially sighted children are reported. A report is presented about studies on poliovirus type 3 isolates from vaccine-associated cases or contacts of cases of paralytic poliomyelitis, observed over a period of 30 years in East Germany (former GDR). One hundred and twenty-five patients with duodenal ulcer disease were given continuous ranitidine therapy after initial acute healing. Cumulative remission rates indicated that 95% of patients were ulcer-free after 1 year, 89% at 2 years, 81% at 3 years, 70% at 4 years and 60% at 5 and 6 years. Nine patients had a second recurrence after healing of the first. No patient developed an ulcer complication. These results support the view that long-term continuous ranitidine therapy prevents ulcer recurrence and complications.

BACKGROUND: There have not been any studies to date on trends in digital health literacy (DHL) in Germany. We studied trends in DHL and relevant factors that affect it on the basis of two population-based surveys conducted in 2019/2020 and 2024/2025.
METHODS: Data from the second and third Health Literacy Surveys in Germany (HLS-GER 2, 2019/2020; HLS-GER 3, 2024/2025) were evaluated.
