We report here a case of multiple prolapsing mucosal polyps with diverticulosis in the sigmoid colon. A 52-year-old man was admitted to our hospital because of bloody diarrhea. Colonoscopy and barium enema showed multiple diverticula, markedly thickened mucosal folds and polypoid lesions with mucus on the top of them in the sigmoid colon. This article presents a case of synchronous polypoid primary adenocarcinoma of the transverse colon without lymph node or distance metastasis. During the postmortem examination, polypoid smooth muscle tumors in the patient's gastrointestinal tract and extensive extraintestinal smooth muscle tumors in the patient's liver, lungs, and visceral organs, including the diaphragm, parathyroid gland, bone marrow of the vertebrae, and subcutaneous tissue of the left wrist, were reviewed to determine their origin. Histomorphologically, all of the tumors were classified as leiomyosarcomas.

Forty-nine patients undergoing surgery for familial polyposis coli (FPC) over a twenty year period are presented. Forty-three patients underwent total colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis (TC + IRA) and five patients subsequently developed a rectal carcinoma. Two cases of intussusception of the appendix are reported--one caused by adenocarcinoma and adenomatous polyp and the other by an endometrioma. Appendiceal intussusception and adenocarcinoma are both uncommon entities and this is the first report of the two occurring concomitantly. Due to variable symptoms, the correct diagnosis of appendiceal intussusception has rarely been made preoperatively. Classification, symptoms, radiographic appearance, and differential diagnosis are discussed, and the authors suggest a new classification for intussusception of the appendix.

A rare case of cystic lymphangioma of the colon is reported. The lobulated and fluctuant lesion was located in the splenic flexure and was associated with multiple adenomas in the entire colon. Well differentiated adenocarcinomas restricted to the mucosal layer were also demonstrated in two of the adenomas of the colon. Clinical features, appropriate treatment, and possible pathogenesis of colonic lymphangioma are discussed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the distribution of malignant polyps of the colon is the same as the distribution of all polyps in general. A consecutive and unselected series of 1226 endoscopically removed polyps was analyzed; the analysis indicated a strong preponderance of malignant polyps to be located in the left side of the colon. Colonic polyps were systematically searched for in 508 specimens collected from unselected autopsies in individuals more than 10 years of age from Medellín, Colombia, a low-incidence geographic region for colorectal cancer. A patient with filiform polyposis in Crohn's colitis is reported. Unlike previous reports of filiform polyposis, this patient's colitis was of rapid onset and antedated development of pseudopolyps by a short duration. Additionally, unlike previous reports, the disease process was quite aggressive. The extensive degree of fissuring found throughout the bowel wall may have produced the unusually shaped polyps and caused the toxic colonic atony.

There is few studies about modified endoscopic treatment of duodenal lesions. The string-clip method is an effective option for large pedunculated duodenal polyp. On the one hand, it could increase the tension of the lesion and make endoscopic resection easy. What is more, with the help of clip and dental floss, we do not have to worry about specimen losing. We could deal with the wound first and then retrieve the resected specimen, resulting in an increased safety and efficiency of the endoscopic treatment.
