PURPOSE: Planes of reference for orbital fractures (PROF) was developed to standardize measurements made on orbital computed tomography scans. This study describes the use of PROF in determining the location along the orbital floor where the posterior ledge (PL) most commonly occurs. An 8-year-old boy initially presented with an orbitopalpebral mass diagnosed clinically and radiologically as a low-flow diffuse venous lymphatic malformation involving the left upper eyelid and orbit. Over 8 months of follow up, he had 2 acute episodes of severe orbital inflammation that warranted hospitalization and treatment with intravenous antibiotic, steroids and surgical debulking. After a third surgical excision, the lesion remained clinically stable.

Fracture of the orbital floor is commonly seen in facial trauma. Accurate anatomical reconstruction of the orbital floor contour is challenging. The authors demonstrate a novel method to more precisely reconstruct the orbital floor on a 50-year-old female who sustained an orbital floor fracture following a fall. Results of the reconstruction show excellent reapproximation of the native orbital floor contour and complete resolution of her enopthalmos and facial asymmetry.

Orbital involvement by plasma cell tumours is rare. Orbital tumours do not generally present as an acute orbital inflammatory disease in adults, though tumours such as rhabdomyosarcoma may cause clinical signs similar to an acute orbital cellulitis in children. We describe a patient with bacterial orbital cellulitis and sinusitis who was found to have an extra-medullary plasmacytoma of the maxillary antrum and orbit and coexisting testicular seminoma.
