Glomerulonephritis constitutes an important category of renal diseases in animals and has been recognized with increasing frequency in the last decade. We report here the comparative morphologic aspects of glomerulonephritis as a naturally occurring disease of animals. We briefly review the immunopathogenesis of glomerulonephritis. Tissues were studied from four subjects with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (FH). An investigation was made of the pathology of osteochondritis dissecans of young foals and horses with clinical signs of the lesion. A randomly selected material of fetuses and young foals without clinical signs was also examined. This paper presents an analysis of publications, mostly by Soviet authores, on clinical studies and morphological examinations of the microcirculatory bed in different pathology. Quantitative lacrimal scintillography is a useful clinical procedure in assessing lacrimal drainage function in patients with epiphora. Examples are presented of patients with canalicular disease, lid abnormalities, 'functional blocks', and dysthroid disease, in which this technique was valuable. Information regarding the dynamics of a functioning and non-functioning dacryocystorhinostomy is elucidated with quantitative scintillography.
