Microtia and congenital aural atresia (CAA) are congenital anomalies that are so common that every otolaryngologist should be familiar with the initial evaluation and care of the patient. When one ear hears normally, speech and language development should be normal. The gross and fine motor development of the baby or child is not expected to be affected in isolated cases of microtia and CAA. Breast reduction surgery is one of the most common procedures done by plastic surgeons. Although not detrimental to the final outcome, allergic reaction can negatively impact the postoperative course. This case presentation paints the classic picture of allergic reaction after breast surgery, likely due to skin glue. The typical signs of intense pruritus and erythematous rash surrounding incisions bilaterally are present. The patient was treated with our institutional protocol with good results. Our protocol is presented and further questions posed.

Pre- and postoperative imaging is increasingly used in plastic and reconstructive surgery for the evaluation of bony and soft tissue anatomy. Imaging plays an important role in preoperative planning. In the postoperative setting, imaging is used for the assessment of surgical positioning, bone healing and fusion, and for the assessment of early or delayed surgical complications. This article will focus on imaging performed for surgical reconstruction of the face, including orthognathic surgery, facial feminization procedures for gender dysphoria, and face transplantation.

This article explores the role of fillet flaps in lower extremity salvage, highlighting their ability to provide durable coverage without additional donor site morbidity. When standard flaps are limited or not recommended, fillet flaps, which are taken from nonviable parts, offer a useful reconstructive alternative. The fillet of foot flap receives particular attention, as demonstrated by a case study involving below-the-knee amputation. This case demonstrates how the method can enhance prosthesis optimization and maintain limb length and sensation in difficult salvage situations.

BACKGROUND: Bony nonunion is an important complication in head and neck reconstruction, but its definition, incidence, and treatment are not well-reported.
