BACKGROUND: Our aim was to report the rate and causes for multiple casualty incidents (MCI) to analyse the prehospital part of responding to MCIs, report mortality and find areas for improvement.
METHODS: A prospective cohort study conducted in an urban emergency medical service (EMS) between 1.3.1998 and 28.2.2004.
RESULTS: Fifty-nine MCIs involving 263 patients (167 walking, 96 non-walking) occurred. The incidence of MCIs was 1.8/100,000 inhabitants year(-1). Traffic accidents were the most common cause followed by residential fires, intoxications and stabbings or shootings. Early MCI alar

BACKGROUND: The aim of our study was to determine validity of computed tomography in staging of non-small cell lung cancer.
METHODS AND RESULTS: Sixty-two patients with NSCLC were operated at our department between March and September 2003. Lymph nodes with the shortest diameter over 10 mm on CT were considered abnormal. Primary tumor was correctly determined by CT scans in 77 % of cases, lymph nodes involvement in 63 %. Stage of NSCLC was correct in 53% of all patients. Negative predictive value for N1 and N2 was 80 %, resp. 88 %.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate the one-year development of self-reported sleep problems in workers with no sleep problem at baseline, and to evaluate the role of work stress in the etiology of a new episode.

INTRODUCTION: The sialorrhea has been recognised as one of the manifestations of Parkinson's disease, with a frequency of up to 80%. The evolution of patients with sialorrhea is unknown.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: We study 26 male and 17 female patients with Parkinson's disease and sialorrhea.

Anxiety disorders are common in Parkinson's disease (PD). However, the risk of PD among people with anxiety has not been examined in a prospective cohort study. We examined this relation prospectively within the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study, a cohort of US male health professionals.
