A 60-year-old male patient had unresectable multiple liver metastases from a sigmoid colon cancer that had been resected, and thus hepatic arterial infusion therapy was planned. This study describes our patient selection criteria and evaluates the results with 35 MIC (Medical Innovation Corporation, Milpitas, CA) gastrostomy tubes inserted between September 1, 1992 and April 30, 1993. RATIONALE: As the third most common cancer in women, cervical cancer usually spreads to adjacent organs. Distant metastasis from the cervix to the gastrointestinal tract is an extremely rare occurrence.
PATIENT CONCERNS: Herein, we present a rare case of a 57-year-old woman who was treated by hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the uterine cervix. A metastatic location in the sigmoid colon was revealed after 8 years causing an acute intestinal obstruction in this patient.

There have been studies trying to elucidate the large spectrum and the variety of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)-related colorectal cancer manifestations and natural history. This case of splenic peliosis, describes a rare condition when it presents in the spleen, and is better understood when it occurs in the liver. However, the ultrasound and CT features have a wide differential diagnosis including more common aetiologies, of either a vascular, infective or neoplastic nature, which should be considered. Peliosis is an important condition to be aware of because rupture of the blood-filled cysts on the spleen surface can lead to haemorrhagic peritonitis and ultimately be fatal.
