PURPOSE: To report a small-aperture intraocular lens (IOL) implantation after corneal trauma.
METHODS: Case report.
RESULTS: A 17-year-old boy with corneal scars, iris defect, and aphakia after perforating trauma in the right eye was scheduled for small-aperture IOL (IC-8; AcuFocus, Irvine, CA) implantation under general anesthesia. No intraoperative complications were observed. Six months after surgery, the uncorrected distance and near visual acuity increased significantly. Furthermore, reduced photopic phenomena were reported.

UNLABELLED: We describe the case of a 69-year-old patient who had pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) for epiretinal membrane removal 18 months after cataract surgery with implantation of a dual-optic accommodating IOL (Synchrony). During PPV, visualization of the macula was perfect, and the postoperative visual outcome was excellent. To our knowledge, this is the first report of retinal visualization during PPV in the presence of a dual-optic accommodating IOL. When choosing a presbyopia-correcting IOL, surgeons should consider the advantage of macula visualization with an IOL with monofocal optics.

PURPOSE: To report a case of infectious keratitis due to Microsporidium after collagen crosslinking (CXL).
METHODS: A 36-year-old man presented with a 3-day history of pain, redness and diminution of vision in his left eye. PURPOSE: To assess the influence of intrastromal corneal ring segment (ICRS) implantation on corneal biomechanics in patients with keratoconus.
METHODS: Patients with keratoconus who underwent femtosecond laser-assisted ICRS (Keraring) implantation were evaluated with the ocular response analyzer (ORA). Metrics of corneal biomechanical parameters, including corneal hysteresis (CH) and corneal resistance factor (CRF) were measured both before and after surgery. PURPOSE: To describe the surgical technique and clinical outcome of deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) with Intacs explantation in patients with poor visual outcome after Intacs implantation for keratoconus correction.
METHODS: Two patients with bilateral keratoconus underwent Intacs segment implantation. Due to poor visual outcome and patient dissatisfaction, the Intacs segments were explanted and a big bubble-assisted DALK procedure was performed at the time of Intacs removal.
