Assessing the effectiveness of suprascapular nerve block in the treatment of frozen shoulder.

AIMS: Frozen shoulder is a common and debilitating condition characterized by pain and restricted movement at the glenohumeral joint. Various treatment methods have been explored to alleviate symptoms, with suprascapular nerve block (SSNB) emerging as a promising intervention. This meta-analysis aimed to assess the effectiveness of SSNB in treating frozen shoulder. METHODS: The study protocol was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42023475851). We searched the MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases in November 2023. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing SSNB against other intervent

Corticosteroid Injections for Frozen Shoulder: A Global Online Survey of Health Professionals' Current Practice and Opinion.

INTRODUCTION: Frozen shoulder is a disabling condition characterised by severe pain and loss of shoulder movement. Corticosteroid injections are targeted at reducing pain in the earlier painful phase. There are multiple studies on the effectiveness of injections for frozen shoulder, but none were identified to assess if this guidance has been translated into clinical practice. The aim of this survey was to investigate the current practice and opinion of musculoskeletal health professionals regarding corticosteroid injections for frozen shoulder. DESIGN AND METHODS: The online survey was disse

Clinical results of the Keck and Kelly Wedge Osteotomy approach in Haglund's deformity: Minimum 3-year follow-up.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The Haglund's deformity, which may be difficult to treat non-surgically, is caused by a prominent bone hump in the posterosuperior region of the calcaneus and may be associated with bursitis and foot pain. Many surgical treatments for resistant Haglund deformities have been described. Here, we evaluate the AOFAS scores, pain and other characteristics of patients undergoing removal of the dorsally based wedge from the posterior calcaneus with the Keck and Kelly procedure. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study included 20 patients who had undergone the Keck and Kelly procedur…

Intra-Articular versus Subacromial Corticosteroid Injection for the Treatment of Adhesive Capsulitis: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND: Adhesive capsulitis is one of the most well-known causes of pain and stiffness of the shoulder. Corticosteroid injections have been used for many years. However, it is still controversial where corticosteroid should be injected, whether subacromial or intra-articular. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this meta-analysis was to compare the effects of intra-articular (IA) and subacromial (SA) corticosteroid injections for the treatment of adhesive capsulitis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Four foreign databases and two Chinese databases were searched for RCTs and quasi-RCTs involving the compar
