Effects of embedded acceptance and commitment training in veterinary medical and technology programs as students transition into the workforce: A study protocol.

Psychological distress is elevated in the field of veterinary medicine. Recent evidence demonstrates that stress and burnout in veterinary workers can be reduced through an Acceptance and Commitment Training intervention targeting "burden transfer," or reactivity to challenging interactions with veterinary clients ("Unburdened"). Exposing students to Unburdened could optimize mental health outcomes as they transition into the veterinary workforce. Unburdened will be adapted for student use in a self-guided digital format and embedded into 5 veterinary medical or technology programs. Participan

Incorporating Cleft Lip Simulation Into a "Bootcamp-Style" Curriculum.

INTRODUCTION: The traditions of surgical education have changed little over the years. However, the increasing focus on patient safety and duty hour restrictions mandates that residents start developing complex skill sets earlier to ensure they graduate with procedural competency. Surgical training is poised to exploit high-fidelity simulation technology to mitigate these pressures. METHODS: By revisiting principles of adult learning theory, the authors created a "bootcamp-style" cleft lip curriculum that sought to (1) maximize educational impact and (2) pilot a high-fidelity procedural train

Not just another multi-professional course! Part 1. Rationale for a transformative curriculum.

Undergraduate inter- and multi-professional education has traditionally aimed to develop health professionals who are able to collaborate effectively in comprehensive healthcare delivery. The respective professions learn from and about each other through comparisons of roles, responsibilities, powers, duties and perspectives in order to promote integrated service. Described here is the educational rationale of a multi-professional course with a difference; one that injects value to undergraduate health professional education through the development of critical cross-field knowledge, skills and

Simulation-based and clinical training in undergraduate nuclear medicine education: evaluation of competency outcomes using a structured OSCE framework.

BACKGROUND: Simulation-based training (SBT) has emerged as a structured educational strategy to support safe transition into clinical imaging practice. In nuclear medicine technology (NMT), where high-risk procedures require precision and adherence to radiation protection standards, variability in clinical-based training (CBT) exposure may affect skill acquisition. Evidence evaluating structured simulation integration within undergraduate nuclear medicine education remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate performance outcomes associated with SBT and CBT using a structured OSCE framework t

Development of a new Peyronie's disease self-assessment screening app.

Peyronie's disease (PD) is an underdiagnosed and undertreated fibroproliferative disorder associated with the formation of plaques that results in penile curvature and discourages some men from seeking medical consultation. The PD self-assessment app, a digital application (app), was developed to increase PD awareness, provide men with a self-screening and educational tool for PD, and help eliminate barriers to seeking consultation with a physician. Prior to deployment, 4 board-certified urologists provided qualitative reviews on the app's usability and utility as a screening tool. The PD self

Sociodemographic and clinical factors associated with seven domains of digital health literacy: A cross-sectional study (NORFAST).

Introduction Due to limited digital health literacy (DHL), stroke survivors frequently face barriers in using digital health tools essential for post-stroke rehabilitation and self-management. DHL is a multidimensional construct, encompassing several distinct skill domains. Although sociodemographic and clinical characteristics may influence overall DHL, their associations with specific DHL domains remain poorly understood. This study therefore explores how individual DHL domains relate to patient characteristics in stroke survivors. Methods In this cross-sectional NORFAST study, stroke surviv

A multidimensional gender analysis of health technology self-efficacy among people with Parkinson's disease.

BACKGROUND: Digital health technologies (DHT) enable self-tracking of bio-behavioral states and pharmacotherapy outcomes in various diseases. However, the role of gender, encompassing social roles, expectations, and relations, is often overlooked in their adoption and use. This study addresses this issue for persons with Parkinson's disease (PD), where DHT hold promise for remote evaluations. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional survey study in the Netherlands, assessing the impact of gender identity, roles, and relations on health technology self-efficacy (HTSE) and attitude (HTA). Maximizing Foreign Body Detection by Ultrasound With the Water Bath Technique Coupled With the Focal Zone Advantage: A Technical Report.

Advancements in medical technology and clinician education have significantly improved ambulatory clinicians' access to bedside ultrasound. The presence of a foreign body can be identified on ultrasound as a hyperechoic disruption of soft tissue accompanied by posterior shadowing, reverberation artifact, and/or an anechoic halo. Although the literature discusses the utility of point-of-care ultrasound for foreign body identification and removal techniques, there is a gap in current literature advancing detection techniques for foreign bodies in small structures. This technical report highlight

Whole-exome sequencing for diagnosis of Peters-plus syndrome after prenatal diagnosis of recurrent low PAPP-A and multiple fetal anomalies in two consecutive pregnancies.

We report a case of two consecutive pregnancies in the same couple presenting with very low pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPP-A), with both pregnancies affected by multiple anomalies of a similar phenotype identified during mid-trimester ultrasound, and eventual diagnosis of Peters-plus syndrome. This case is important in expanding the differential for very low PAPP-A. It also demonstrates the diagnostic value of whole-exome sequencing (WES) after prenatal diagnosis of recurrent fetal ultrasonographic findings. The importance and complexity of providing patient education to enable in
