Statistical analysis was performed of the diseases seen and therapies utilized during the first two years of the Pediatric Dermatology Clinic at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, Florida. This survey includes 2,821 patient visits made by 1,578 patients. This analysis classifies patients by diagnosis, sex, age, race, and treatment. Diagnostic and treatment frequencies, sex and race ratios, and trends in the patient's age at presentation are also noted. BACKGROUND: Robotic pet therapy could aid in the nonpharmacologic treatment of pain, agitation, delirium, immobility, and sleep disruption (PADIS) in the intensive care unit (ICU), similar to traditional pet therapy.
OBSERVATIONS: The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System implemented a robotic pet therapy program for patients requiring ICU care. Details of this program are described in this article, including evaluating its impact on PADIS management.

Eight fatalities between September 2020 and July 2024 in Miami-Dade County involving the ingestion of colored powders, referred to as "tusi," "tucibi," or "pink cocaine," are reported. For each case, a description of the terminal event, the postmortem toxicology findings, the cause and manner of death, and the chemical composition of the "tusi" powder(s) found on or near the decedent are summarized. INTRODUCTION: In far-forward combat situations, the military challenged dogma by using whole blood transfusions (WBTs) rather than component-based therapy. More recently, some trauma centers have initiated WBT programs with reported success. There are a few Emergency Medical Service (EMS) systems that are using WBTs, but the vast majority are not.
