This report describes a 5-week-old female infant who presented with accidental ingestion of rubbing alcohol (which contains about 70% isopropanol), and was subsequently diagnosed with cerebral sinovenous thrombosis. Isopropanol is a clear, volatile 3-carbon alcohol found in varying concentrations in many solvents. Mislabeled rubbing alcohol was mixed with this patient's formula. After ingesting it, she presented with a 1-day history of uncontrolled fussiness and an episode of deviation of the eyes to the right for 30 minutes, followed by rhythmic movements of the arms and legs for 20 minutes.

Breast milk provides ideal nutrition for the newborn infant. More than half of mothers intend to breast-feed, yet many are unsuccessful at sustaining breast feeding beyond the first few weeks postpartum. Preparation for breast feeding should begin during prenatal care. Breast feeding early and often in the postpartum period promotes establishment of the milk supply. Attention to proper positioning is essential to successful nursing. METHODS: Appropriate for date and SGA preterm neonates with gestation <35 weeks, at 12-18 months of corrected age, attending the follow-up outpatient clinic of a Tertiary care level III neonatal unit. Renal function was assessed by measuring the serum creatinine level and estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) was calculated by using modified Schwartz formula. Kidney size was determined by ultrasonography using a 5 MHz sector probe with an accuracy of 1.0 mm.

When mother's own milk (MOM) is unavailable or insufficient, donor human milk (DHM) is recommended as the next best alternative for low birthweight infants. A 34-weeks-old female baby having a closed ceacal perforation due to milk curd syndrome is reported. The obstructing milk curd was located in the transvers colon and the perforation was in the ceacum. Primary repair of the ceacal perforation, aspiration of the material from an enterotomy and a protective ileostomy were performed. The patient died in the second postoperative day as a result of cardiopulmonary arrest and septic shock.
