BACKGROUND: Basal cell adenoma (BCA) and pleomorphic adenoma (PA) are among the most common benign neoplasms of the salivary glands. The aim of this study was to analyze and compare the diagnosis, treatment, and recurrence rate of these two different types of parotid benign tumors.
METHODS: A retrospective analysis of all cases of parotid gland BCA and PA surgically treated between January 1, 1990, and December 31, 2019, was performed at our university.
RESULTS: A total of 349 patients were enrolled in the present study, 311 of which (89.1%) were affected by PA, and 38 patients (10.9%) by BC
