Carbonic anhydrase (CA) was purified from four different cell localisation (outer peripheral, cytosolic, inner peripheral and integral) in bovine stomach using affinity chromatography with Sepharose-4B-L-tyrosine sulphanilamide. During the purification steps, the activity of the enzyme was measured using p-nitrophenyl acetate at pH 7.4. Optimum pH and optimum temperature values for all CA samples were determined, and their K(m) and V(max) values for the same substrate by Lineweaver-Burk graphics. Radioimmunoassays have been used to detect digoxin-like immunoreactive factors (DLF) in the plasma and urine of hypertensive patients and rats with deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA)-salt hypertension. A total of 21 patients with normal-pressure hydrocephalus were examined. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was collected before and after operation with a ventriculoperitoneal shunt. A slight plasma-like protein pattern indicating a blood-brain barrier (BBB) dysfunction was seen in 38% of the patients before operation. BACKGROUND: Macroprolactin (macPRL) is considered to be solely a prolactin antibody complex. We examined macPRL heterogeneity in samples from thirteen patients suspected of macroprolactinemia.

Protein protein interactions play a significant role in maintaining the structural and functional integrity of the cell. We used multiple antigen peptides (MAPs) to analyze such interactions within the Ro (or SSA) ribonucleoprotein complex. Our data showed that 60 kD Ro and La colocalize in the nucleus of the cell. Previous data have indicated that 60 kD Ro and La co-exist via interactions with the hYRNAs.
