BACKGROUND: Radical resection for hilar cholangiocarcinoma (HCa) is one of the most challenging abdominal procedures. Robotic-assisted approach is gaining popularity in hepatobiliary surgery but scarcely tried in the management of HCa. We herein report our initial experience of robotic radical resection for HCa.
METHODS: Between May 2009 and October 2012, 10 patients underwent fully robotic-assisted radical resection for HCa in a single institute. The perioperative and long-term outcomes were analyzed and compared with a contemporaneous 32 patients undergoing traditional open surgery.

The explosion in laparoscopic cholecystectomy has posed many questions about its safety compared with the "gold standard" of open cholecystectomy. A statewide database was established in Connecticut to study these issues. Thirty-three (97%) of 34 hospitals in Connecticut participated in the study, which began at the inception of the laparoscopic procedure. This study aimed to evaluate surgical and oncological outcomes of robot-assisted (RATS) thymectomy in the treatment of large (diameter > = 5 cm) resectable thymomas. Clinical data of 301 thymectomies for thymoma, performed in 7 high-volume centers from 2010 to 2023, were retrospectively reviewed. 132 RATS thymectomies were performed: 59 (44.7%) for small and 73 (55.3%) for large thymomas.
