INTRODUCTION: Palmar hyperhidrosis (PH) is a relative frequent pathology which basically affects patients' life quality limiting social and laboral life. The treatment of choice is thoracoscopic sympathectomy, most frequently done during adulthood. Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma (EAH) is a rare, benign malformation characterized by both eccrine and vascular components. It usually presents at birth or during early infancy and childhood as a nodule or a plaque, usually solitary, involving acral skin. Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma is usually asymptomatic, although focal hyperhidrosis, hypertrichosis, and pain can be observed. We report an additional case of this rare entity presenting in a 14-year-old boy.

Digital dermatoscopy, a noninvasive auxiliary method that can improve the diagnosis of nearly all pigment skin lesions, was used to study 6 cases of tinea nigra, a rare dematiaceous superficial fungal infection and a potential mimicker of melanocytic nevus. Patients were first evaluated by a manual dermatoscope using a 10-fold magnification. The same patients were then reevaluated using a digital dermatoscope with 20-, 50-, and 70-fold magnifications. A case of extensive periungual viral warts in an immunocompetent patient that failed to respond to standard treatments over a 10-year period is reported. A rapid and complete response to treatment was achieved with oral acitretin.

Photo-onycholysis due to indapamide presented in a 75-year-old woman who was being treated with the diuretic for hypertension. The onset of her photo-onycholysis was delayed because of inadvertent photoprotection in the form of artificial nails and occurred in the absence of a generalized photosensitive eruption. Her nails returned to normal after withdrawal of the drug and application of opaque nail polish.

We describe a 68-year-old healthy woman with an unusual skin manifestation of mycetoma. A dark reddish erythematous plaque was present on the dorsum of the left hand for over 10 years. A skin biopsy revealed sulphur granules in the abscess, and Nocardia nova was identified from the specimen. Treatment with dapsone resulted in significant improvement. We review the clinical features of cutaneous N. nova infections.

Three patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) and psoriasis vulgaris were evaluated. The onset of psoriasis preceded by 3-7 years the onset of SSc in all cases. All the patients presented diffuse scleroderma, accompanied by lung and esophageal involvement in two cases. Sjögren's syndrome occurred in one case. Myalgia developed with the onset of SSc in two patients. The PASI score was not high (mean; 5.2), implying that the degree of psoriasis was not severe in these cases. However, this might have been due to the systemic prednisolone administered for myalgia.
