Pushing boundaries in paediatric intensive care: training as a paediatric retrieval nurse practitioner.

Traditionally in the UK, the transportation of the critically ill child to a paediatric intensive care unit has been carried out by a medically led team of doctors and nurses. However, in countries such as the USA and Canada, appropriately trained nurse practitioners have proven to be competent in the transportation of these vulnerable children. This nurse-led team model has also been shown to be successful in the speciality of neonatal care in the UK. The impact of changes in the National Health Service (NHS) has led to an increased demand for the transportation of the child requiring paediat

Evaluation of "nursing ethics-professional teaching" integrated ward-round in practicing nursing students: a practical study.

BACKGROUND: Competence in ethical decision making and moral sensitivity are becoming increasingly important in nursing education. While teaching reforms have been conducted in nursing ethics, these reforms often fail to drive the adequate development of students’ critical thinking and ethical decision-making skills. To address this gap, in this study, a “nursing ethics–professional teaching” program is constructed on the basis of Rest’s ethical decision-making model, and its effects on enhancing the ethical decision-making ability and sensitivity of nursing interns are explored. METHODS: Limit

Defining competencies for language-discordant care in migrant and refugee mental health: an international modified e-Delphi study.

BACKGROUND: Migrants and refugees experience a higher prevalence of mental disorders than host populations, and language discordance undermines care from help-seeking through diagnosis, adherence and outcomes. The WHO Refugee and Migrant Health: Global Competency Standards for Health Workers set broad behavioural expectations for individual health workers but do not operationalise language-discordant care, leaving clinicians and administrators without measurable standards. OBJECTIVE: To develop an international, consensus-based competency framework for healthcare professionals working in lang

Describing the Process to Develop Core Entrustable Professional Activities for Entrance Into Physical Therapist Practice: Applying a National Consensus Approach.

INTRODUCTION: A component step in developing a competency-based education (CBE) program is to define a set of consensus-driven learner performance outcomes that will meet the physical therapy (PT) needs of society. REVIEW OF LITERATURE: Entrustable professional activities (EPAs) represent observable units of practice that integrate critical competencies that must be demonstrated in the care of patients. EPAs serve as a framework for teaching, learning, and assessment of key skills and responsibilities. The purpose of this manuscript is to describe the iterative, four-phase national consensus-

Suicide Prevention Competencies Among Muslim Faith Leaders in Canada: Levels and Determinants from a Cross-Sectional Study.

Suicide prevention is a critical public health issue, yet little is known about how prepared Muslim faith leaders are to handle situations involving suicidal distress. Despite serving as key sources of support within their communities, their readiness and the factors influencing it remain understudied. This study addresses this gap by assessing the levels of Suicide Prevention Competency (SPC) among Muslim faith leaders in Canada and identifying the main determinants of these competencies. A national online survey was conducted between September and December 2025 using purposive and convenienc

A competency milestones framework for AI-augmented clinical training and practice.

What was the educational challenge? AI technologies are entering clinical workflows faster than training programs can implement competency frameworks that can ensure AI is used safely and responsibly. Concerns regarding automation bias, de-skilling, and never-skilling are increasingly discussed across specialties, but developmental frameworks that address these risks within clinical training and practice remain limited. What was the solution, and how was it implemented? We developed a competency milestones framework for AI-augmented clinical training and practice through iterative analysis of A

AquOTic: protocol for a type 1 hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial of an occupational therapy-based water competency intervention for children on the autism spectrum.

INTRODUCTION: Drowning is a leading cause of unintentional death among children on the autism spectrum, emphasising the need for tailored water competency interventions. Autism-related factors such as wandering, sensory differences and limited danger awareness increase drowning risk. Evidence suggests structured aquatic programmes improve water safety, yet guidance on effective components and implementation fidelity in community settings remains limited. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This type 1 hybrid effectiveness-implementation randomised controlled trial will evaluate AquOTic, an occupational the

[Pediatric aphereses (workshop SFGM-TC)].

Practice of pediatric aphereses - in particular when caring for low-weight children - differs from the practice of adult aphereses, since pediatric aphereses represent low numbers of procedures, which has practical implications in terms of practical training and retraining for involved healthcare personnel, as needed for habilitation and validation of ongoing competencies. A specific training is mandatory in order to ensure both the child and the staff safety during and after collection, as well as ensure high quality of the collected cell product and that its meets predefined specifications t

Integration of ultrasonography training into undergraduate medical education: catch up with professional needs.

OBJECTIVE: Ultrasonography (US) has become the first-line imaging modality even for physicians who are not imaging specialists. The progress has not yet been sufficiently considered in medical education. The aim was to develop a curriculum that integrates US as a compulsory part into medical education directly from the start, to build up professional competencies toward residency. METHODS: Development was based on Kern's six-step approach to identify problems, specify needs, define goals, outline strategies, and propose methods. RESULTS: The proposed curriculum follows a spiral course within
