Lithiation/stannylation of optically active N-propargyloxazolidinones produced optically active alpha-oxazolidinonylallenylstannanes. Reaction of these with aldehydes in the presence of BF(3).OEt(2) produced beta-hydroxypropargylamines with high syn diastereoselectivity and ee. A direct method was reported for the determination of total sulfur in coal by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). The dissolution conditions of coal samples as well as interference conditions of hydrochloric acid and matrix were studied. The recommended method not only proved to be simple and rapid than traditional gravimetric method but show satisfying precision and accuracy as well. The results of samples are as same as gravimetry. The recoveries are more than 96%, and the relative standard deviation of six samples are less than 3%.

In this paper, the method of determining arsenic and selenium in the industrial sulphur sample has been studied. Carbon tetrachloride-boromine was used to dissolve the sulphur sample in classical methods, which is complex and harmful, and a little arsenic and selenium will be lost. In this paper, nitric acid and perchloric acid were used to dissolve the sulphur sample, which was simple, and scarcely arsenic and selenium were lost. A rapid, reliable and specific UV spectrophotometric method was developed to determine Phenilpropanolamine Hydrochloride (I), Caffeine (II) and Diazepam (III) formulated in tablets. Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan, lies in a basin, and its topography prevents the dispersion of pollutants in the city. As a continuation of our air quality study, from February 1999 through June 1999, we measured the concentrations of SO2 at six different locations and of formaldehyde at five locations using a differential optical absorption spectrometer (DOAS). Drug-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) suitable for parenteral administration were freeze-dried. The lipid matrix Imwitor 900 (concentration, 2.5%) was stabilized with Lipoid E 80 and sodium glycocholate. The influence of different parameters of lyophilization like the protective effect of cryoprotectants, freezing velocity, and thermal treatment was investigated. The results of this study demonstrate that, by optimizing critical process parameters, i.v.-injectable SLN-dispersions can be freeze-dried, preserving their small particle size.

We advance the concept that tautomerism is crucial for the understanding of the chemical behavior of tetracycline. Indeed, considering four deprotonations, there are 64 different possible tautomers to be considered for tetracycline. The effectiveness of two different non-invasive transcutaneous bilirubin measurement devices was compared with serum bilirubin levels in 96 healthy newborns. Transcutaneous measurements were obtained with the Minolta Air Shields jaundice meter and the Ingram icterometer and serum bilirubin levels were determined by a direct spectrophotometric method (Bilitron 444).
