The effect of stress caused by aircraft noise was studied on 14 female and 11 male volunteers, who were of a age ranging from 21 to 42 years and of a mean age of 25 years. Sanhua decoction (SHD), a traditional prescription, has long been used in treating ischemic stroke (IS). However, the therapeutic effect of SHD and the associated changes in gut microbiota and short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are uncertain. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of quantitative 99Tcm-glucoheptonate (99Tcm-GH) scintigraphy in the assessment of patients with Behçet's disease who suffered from ocular inflammation (uveitis). The effect of 2-deoxy-D-glucose on lipolytic processes in the blood and adipose tissue was studied. Rats treated with this antimetabolite showed a significant increase in serum glucose, FFA and glycerol level, as well as in the lipid mobilizing activity. On the other hand, the lipolytic activity of rat serum decreased when compared to control group. From these results it may be concluded that during hypothermia induced by administration of 2-deoxy-D-glucose intracellular, but not intravascular, lipolysis is enhanced.

Studies were carried out on the in vitro turtle olfactory bulb preparation with a modification of the [14C]-2-deoxyglucose (2-DG) technique. Lignocellulosic hydrolysates contain inhibitors that hinder lactic acid (LA) production. This study evaluated a synthetic microbial community (SMC) of five lactic acid bacteria for fermenting undetoxified corn stover hydrolysate. Ten strains of psychrotolerant methylotrophic bacteria were isolated from the samples collected in Larsemann and Bunger Hills (Antarctica). Most of the isolates are assigned to the genus Pseudomonas, representatives of the genera Janthinobacterium, Massilia, Methylotenera and Flavobacterium were also found.
