A model for collaboration in quality improvement projects: implementing a weight-based heparin dosing nomogram across an integrated health care delivery system.

BACKGROUND: At Aurora Health Care, an integrated delivery system based in Milwaukee, a system-level clinical quality improvement department was established in 1995 to facilitate collaboration on clinical quality improvement (QI) initiatives. THE COLLABORATIVE MODEL: A model was developed to use expertise within the system and avoid unnecessary duplication of efforts, while maintaining buy-in for the project's interventions at the point of service delivery. It was believed that a single team could design the improvement efforts or guidelines, and then work at a more local level with a differen

Integrating camel production systems into circular bioeconomy frameworks in arid and semi-arid regions: a narrative review of feed resources, waste valorization, and sustainability.

Camels, the one-humped Camelus dromedarius and the two-humped Camelus bactrianus, are uniquely adapted livestock species to the arid and semi-arid regions. Their distinctive behavioral and physiological adaptations enable them to maintain productivity in these challenging ecosystems, characterized by prolonged heat stress, limited feed resources, and water scarcity. Despite these advantages and their vital role in rural livelihoods, food security and the resilience of dryland ecosystems, the potential contribution of camel production systems to the circular bioeconomy has not been comprehensiv

A systems-level framework integrating evolutionary genomics and developmental transcriptomics reveals the regulatory architecture underlying seed development in makhana (Euryale ferox Salisb.).

Seed size is a complex quantitative trait governed by coordinated developmental, hormonal, and metabolic pathways, yet its regulatory architecture in makhana (Euryale ferox Salisb.) remains largely unknown. This study integrated comparative genomics with developmental transcriptomics to construct a systems-level framework for investigating seed development in makhana. Genome-wide analyses identified 543 genes across ten conserved gene families containing established regulators of seed development and related growth processes, with WGD/segmental duplication contributing substantially to their e

Integrating new approach methodologies and artificial intelligence to advance central nervous system toxicity prediction: lessons from preclinical and clinical case studies.

Central nervous system (CNS) toxicities remain a major cause of drug attrition and represent a persistent challenge in predicting neurological risk during drug development. Limitations in the predictive resolution and translational relevance of conventional nonclinical paradigms contribute to uncertainty in identifying and interpreting neurotoxicity signals. This manuscript examines key challenges in CNS safety assessment and highlights emerging strategies to improve early detection and prediction of neurological risk. Through a series of case studies, we demonstrate practical approaches for i

Illegitimate tasks and work role performance among engineering consulting professionals: integrating work-family boundary and cognitive-affective personality system theories.

INTRODUCTION: Professionals are often required to perform tasks they regard as unnecessary or inconsistent with their legitimate responsibilities. Although research has linked such illegitimate tasks to adverse work outcomes, less is known about how they are associated with employees' appraisal of the work-nonwork interface, motivational investment, and work role performance, or how leadership conditions this process. Drawing primarily on cognitive-affective personality system (CAPS) theory, we propose that illegitimate tasks operate as situational stimuli that activate employees' work-life ba

Polychromatic sinogram based material decomposition and reconstruction methods: integrate standard reference database with an in-house cone-beam micro-computed tomography system.

This study develops a sinogram-based material decomposition (MD) framework for a dual-energy cone-beam micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) system, providing quantitative spectral imaging without specialized photon-counting detectors. This work aims to address challenges in material characterization, particularly for preclinicalin-vivoimaging. The methodology involves acquiring dual-energy projections (50 and 80 kVp) of a standardized reference phantom to calibrate a three-material known basis model. This calibration is performed in the image domain to ensure empirical accuracy, while the deco

A dual-functional dendrimer-based system integrating recombinant endolysin and cinnamic acid for enhanced endolysin stability and antibacterial activity against Acinetobacter baumannii.

The application of recombinant endolysins against Gram-negative bacteria is often limited by their stability and the protective barrier presented by the outer membrane. In this study, we developed a dual-component magnetic nanoplatform to address these challenges. Third-generation poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM)-functionalized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) were employed for PlyF307 immobilization (PlyF307-immobilized G3 PAMAM-SPIONs, G3E), while an analogous cinnamic acid-functionalized G3 PAMAM-SPION platform (G3Cin) was prepared to provide additional antimicrobial activity and

Integration of CTA Run-off Score and Systemic Resuscitation Indices to Predict Outcomes in Emergency Lower Extremity Flap Reconstruction: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

AIM: Reconstruction of severe lower extremity trauma with extensive soft tissue defects remains a major microsurgical concern. Unlike elective procedures, emergency reconstruction is plagued by higher rates of necrosis and failure. Current preoperative assessments predominantly focus on local vascular patency, often neglecting systemic physiological disturbances. This gap in the assessment process highlights the need to incorporate whole-body resuscitation indicators. This study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of combining a modified computed tomography angiography (CTA) Run-off Score w

A portable Cas13a self-cascading cyclic amplification-integrated system enables multiple respiratory tract viruses analysis within minutes at point-of-needs.

CRISPR-based molecular detection systems typically require pre-amplification for adequate sensitivity that prolongs reactions and increases risks of nonspecific amplification, primer interference, and aerosol contamination. In this work, we developed a LbuCas13a-based self-cascading cyclic amplification assay (SCC-Cas13a) for simultaneous detection of multiple respiratory tract viruses in a pre-amplification-free manner. It was achieved by designing CRISPR RNAs (crRNAs) that target specific viral RNA sequences and hairpin probes (HP) that contain multiple uracil structures. The sequence-specif

Achieving Steroid-Sparing Remission in Refractory Pyoderma Gangrenosum With an Integrative Meta-Therapeutic System Based on Traditionally Engineered Nanomercury Sulfide: A Case Series.

The management of pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) remains a formidable clinical challenge due to its complex, multipathway immunopathogenesis. Although conventional steroid therapy and advanced biologic agents have improved outcomes, a substantial proportion of patients, particularly those with severe, progressive ulceration, exhibit treatment-refractory disease, highlighting a critical unmet need for novel strategies capable of network-level immune modulation. To address this, we designed and implemented a self-regulating, integrative meta-therapeutic system centered on a nanostructured, herbo-meta
