We studied the risk of synchronous or secondary urethral tumors after long-term followup in women with bladder cancer. The charts of women treated for various stages of bladder cancer between 1973 and 1992 were reviewed. Of 356 evaluable patients 268 presented initially with primary and 78 with multilocular tumor involvement. There were 498 episodes of recurrent tumors in 127 patients, and a total 1,210 tumor locations in 854 primary and recurrent episodes of bladder cancer. Complete loss of the urethra and bladder neck secondary to pelvic fracture in a female patient is rare. We report a case of pelvic fracture resulting from a traffic collision leading to complete loss of the urethra including the bladder neck in an adolescent girl. A new urethra was reconstructed from a modified Flocks bladder tube and wrapped with omentum. At 2 years follow-up, the patient is fully continent and voiding satisfactorily. The problems of female urethral reconstruction are discussed.

Diverticula of the urethral wall are not common. Generally, in the male, congenital urethral diverticulum is located in the anterior urethra. We report a twenty-one year old man who referred to our department for dysuria, micturition in two times, small stream urination. Sometimes he also presented a dry ejaculation. The exams showed, at the bulbous portion of the urethra, an urethral diverticulum. The diverticulum was probably congenital because the patient had no history of urinary infection, catheterization or trauma. A surgery procedure was performed. 9 months later, the result is good.

The authors study the incidence of urethral strictures after transvesical prostatectomy. A retrospective study of 90 patients and a prospective study of 78 patients found respectively 2% and 0% of urethral stenosis. The operative details of a one-stage procedure to repair hypospadias and congenital short urethra are presented. The prepuce is split from its distal margin to provide two independently vascularised flaps for the reconstruction of the penile urethra and its overlying skin. The results of the first 50 patients so treated are described. The use of a silicone rubber tile on which to stabilise the penis during operation and a self-adhering foam pad as a post-operative dressing are described.

We report a rare case of a 25-year-old man with paraplegia and hemodialysis dependency due to traumatic spinal cord injury and renal infarction. We report a 39-year-old woman with clear cell adenocarcinoma of the urethra (CCAU). She was treated with surgery alone and has survived 8 years without recurrence. The patient had painless hematuria.
