Seventeen patients with non-infectious chronic cystitis (NICC) (9 with interstitial cystitis, 6 patients with radiation cystitis, 1 with chemocystitis and 1 with lupoid cystitis) were treated with electromotive administration of intravesical lidocaine and dexamethasone followed by hydrodistension of the bladder. Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a chronic pelvic-perineal pain syndrome of unknown etiology that mainly targets the lower urinary tract. PURPOSE: To investigate patient-reported visual function among individuals taking pentosan polysulfate (PPS) for interstitial cystitis.
METHODS: A 27-item online survey was distributed to an international mailing list of individuals with interstitial cystitis in November 2018. Demographic characteristics, PPS exposure history, subjective visual function, and previous macular diagnoses were queried. Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) elicits a transient contraction, sustained increase in the amplitude of spontaneous phasic contractions, and significantly increases the amplitude of nerve-mediated contractions in mouse urinary bladder smooth muscle (UBSM) strips. PACAP immunoreactivity (IR) is increased in micturition reflex pathways following cystitis. PACAP may contribute to altered sensation and bladder overactivity in the chronic bladder inflammatory syndrome, interstitial cystitis.

This study aims to clarify the pathogenic mechanism of interstitial cystitis (IC), which has led to uncertainty in its diagnosis and treatment. We examined data from 18 interstitial cystitis with Hunner lesions (HIC) and 18 interstitial cystitis without Hunner lesions (NHIC) patients, including their clinical information, urodynamic test results, and maximum bladder capacity.
