BACKGROUND: Verrucas that occur on the soles of the feet are called plantar warts, most of which can recur repeatedly and are difficult to eradicate. Hypertrophic and refractory plantar warts are often accompanied by pain and discomfort, which cause many inconveniences in patients' daily lives.
AIM: This study aimed to analyze the therapeutic effect of superficial radiotherapy (SRT-100) on refractory plantar warts and further create favorable conditions for the subsequent treatment of this disease with a high recurrence rate.

Onychomycosis is a stubborn fungal infection of the nails that can be difficult to effectively manage. One of the challenges with topical therapies is penetrating the nail plate to reach the site of infection. As the first antifungal in a boron-containing class of drugs with a novel mechanism of action, tavaborole is able to penetrate the nail plate more effectively than ciclopirox and amorolfine lacquers. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate a rapid assessment method to estimate the overall prevalence of tungiasis and severity of disease in endemic communities.
METHODS: We analysed data from 10 population-based surveys on tungiasis, performed in five endemic communities in Brazil and Nigeria between 2001 and 2008. To assess the association between occurrence of tungiasis on six defined topographic areas of the feet and the true prevalence/prevalence of severe disease, linear regression analyses were performed. Estimated prevalences were calculated for each of the 10 surveys and compared to true prevalences.

BACKGROUND: The association of inflammatory diseases such as traumatic reticuloperitonitis (TRP), mastitis, metritis, and pododermatitis with renal amyloidosis in cattle is poorly described.
HYPOTHESIS: Serum amyloid A (SAA) levels are elevated during inflammatory diseases, and renal amyloidosis is formed as a complication.

Plantar and periungual warts are notoriously difficult to eradicate. Two cases of nongenital warts in teenage girls are presented. Imiquimod was used in combination with cryotherapy for the periungual warts and with occlusion for the plantar warts. Both cases showed complete resolution and that imiquimod may be more effective on thicker keratinized (nongenital) skin when occluded or used in combination with cryotherapy.

A case history of acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) following oral terbinafine is reported. A 64-year-old woman presented with a rapidly spreading micropustular eruption 3 days after completing a 28-day course of oral terbinafine. There was a positive family history of psoriasis but no personal history. The clinical presentation and histopathology were consistent with AGEP. Nearly 80% of 87 cattle suffering for the first time from pododermatitis circumspecta were cured by each of the three drugs under test. Sixty and 73% of those cured by sulphamonomethoxine and penicillin, respectively, and 29% of those cured by the tarantula poison (Theranekron), showed relapses within 6 months. Of the 92 cattle with previous records of pododermatitis circumspecta, sulphamonomethoxine cured 44%, penicillin 73% and Theranekron 32%.
