Caregiver Networks of Older Adults With Alzheimer Disease: Design and Protocol for a Multisite Study Using Network Canvas.

BACKGROUND: Patients with Alzheimer disease commonly rely on family caregivers for daily functioning. Research shows that relationships between caregivers and persons with memory loss have important effects on the health and well-being of both caregivers and persons with memory loss. However, most studies rely on a single caregiver-person with memory loss dyad as the unit of analysis, thereby neglecting the broader network of caregivers who collectively shape care experiences and outcomes. OBJECTIVE: This study develops a conceptual and methodological framework for studying caregiver networks

Biopsychosocial Spiritual Needs of Patients in a Singapore Home Hospice Setting-an Exploratory Qualitative Study.

Patients receiving home palliative care face complex biopsychosocial-spiritual (BPSS) needs, yet studies on their experiences are limited. This study sought to investigate the BPSS needs of home palliative care patients from a qualitative perspective. Between October 2023 and December 2024, patients admitted to Assisi HPC service in Singapore were invited to participate in individual semi-structured interviews. Twenty eligible patients who provided written consent were interviewed using the BPSS model. The results were transcribed, anonymized, and analyzed through thematic analysis. Three key

Evaluating the Mediating Role of Recall of Intervention Knowledge in the Relationship Between a Peer-Driven Intervention and HIV Risk Behaviors Among People Who Inject Drugs.

Peer-driven interventions can be effective in reducing HIV injection risk behaviors among people who inject drugs (PWID). We employed a causal mediation framework to examine the mediating role of recall of intervention knowledge in the relationship between a peer-driven intervention and subsequent self-reported HIV injection-related risk behavior among PWID in the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) 037 study. For each intervention network, the index participant received training at baseline to become a peer educator, while non-index participants and all participants in the control networks r

A frontotemporoparietal network common to initiating and responding to joint attention bids.

Joint attention is a fundamental cognitive ability that supports daily interpersonal relationships and communication. The Parallel Distributed Processing model (PDPM) postulates that responding to (RJA) and initiating (IJA) joint attention are predominantly supported by posterior-parietal and frontal regions respectively. It also argues that these neural networks integrate during development, supporting the parallel processes of self- and other-attention representation during interactions. However, direct evidence for the PDPM is limited due to a lack of ecologically valid experimental paradig

Neuroimaging of love: fMRI meta-analysis evidence toward new perspectives in sexual medicine.

INTRODUCTION: Brain imaging is becoming a powerful tool in the study of human cerebral functions related to close personal relationships. Outside of subcortical structures traditionally thought to be involved in reward-related systems, a wide range of neuroimaging studies in relationship science indicate a prominent role for different cortical networks and cognitive factors. Thus, the field needs a better anatomical/network/whole-brain model to help translate scientific knowledge from lab bench to clinical models and ultimately to the patients suffering from disorders associated with love and

H-VIP: quantifying regional topological contributions of the brain network to cognition.

INTRODUCTION: Understanding the role of various brain regions of interest (ROIs) in various cognitive functions or tasks, across healthy or neurodegenerative conditions and multiple degrees of separation, remains a key challenge in neuroscience. Conventional network measures can only capture localized or quasi-localized features of brain ROIs. Topological data analysis (TDA), particularly persistent homology, provides a threshold-free, mathematically rigorous framework for identifying topologically salient features in complex networks. In this paper, we introduce a new metric, the Homological

Antidiabetic Potential of a Trimeric Anthranilic Acid Peptide Isolated from Malbranchea flocciformis.

Compound 3, a trimeric anthranilic acid peptide, and another three metabolites were isolated from an organic extract from the culture medium of Malbranchea flocciformis ATCC 34530. The chemical structure proposed previously for 3 was unequivocally assigned via synthesis and X-ray diffraction analysis. Tripeptide 3 showed insulinotropic properties by decreasing the postprandial peak in healthy and hyperglycemic mice. It also increased glucose-induced insulin secretion in INS-1E at 5 μM, specifically at higher glucose concentrations. These results revealed that 3 might act as an insulin sensitiz
