Tibial eminence avulsion fracture at the ACL footprint may be caused by high-energy forces such as a fall, in which the ACL ligament proves stronger than the forces that hold the bone together. For reasons of bone maturity however, tibial spine avulsion fractures where the ACL remains intact, typically occur in children but are rare in adults. METHODS: Traction injuries to the right sciatic nerve of Sprague-Dawley rats with the use of different weights (0, 25, 50, 100, 200, 400, and 600 g) were performed. A method of a two-phase closed reduction using longitudinal skin traction followed by abduction was employed by the authors for treatment of children with congenital dislocation of the hip (CDH). In a retrospective study, we attempted to assess progress in the treatment of comminuted fractures of the femoral shaft at Parkland Memorial Hospital from 1978 to 1983.
