PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This article reviews the current landscape of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors, focusing on dyslipidemia, which contribute to atherosclerosis in three unique populations: youth less than 18 years-of-age with a history of Kawasaki disease, and those who have undergone orthotopic heart and bone marrow transplants.

As of 31 December 2017, a total of 9242 liver transplants have been carried out in 67 institutions in Japan. There were 447 deceased donor transplants (444 from heart-beating donors and 3 from non-heart-beating donors) and 8795 living-donor transplants. Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) occurs in ~5% of solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. We report a unique presentation of PTLD in the bladder of a lung transplant recipient. Our patient was a 62-year-old female who received a bilateral lung transplant for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She presented with fever, left-sided flank pain and foul-smelling urine consistent with urosepsis. Torsion is an uncommon cause of impaired function in a renal transplant. We present a case of intraperitoneal transplant torsion secondary to adhesions to the left fallopian tube and ovary. Inability to confirm renal venous flow with Doppler misled to the erroneous sonographic diagnosis of renal vein thrombosis, although end diastolic flow was absent rather than reversed. The correct diagnosis was made with CT. The combination of abnormal orientation of the graft on ultrasonography, acutely impaired renal function, and abnormal Doppler study should have led to a diagnosis of transplant torsion

Allograft thrombosis is a devastating early complication of renal transplantation that ultimately leads to allograft loss. We report here on our experience of nine cases of immediate re-transplantation following early kidney transplant thrombosis at a single centre between January 1990 and June 2009.
