Plasmapheresis not only removes circulating antibodies but also modulates cellular immunity, including lymphocyte subsets. To investigate the effect of double-filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP) on the ratio of lymphocyte subsets in patients with myasthenia gravis (MG), we examined the percentages of B-cells, T-cells, T helper (Th) cells, T suppressor (Ts) cells, natural killer (NK) cells, NKT cells, and Th/Ts ratio before and after a single DFPP session and after a course of DFPP. A total of 26 patients were recruited; their peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets were assayed using flow cytometry.

Trifunctional bispecific antibodies can efficiently mediate tumor cell killing by redirecting T cells and immune accessory cells to the tumor cell. Here, we describe the new trifunctional antibody, Bi20 (FBTA05, anti-CD20 x anti-CD3), that connects B cells and T cells via its variable regions and recruits FcgammaRI(+) accessory immune cells via its Fc region. PURPOSE: Catumaxomab is a trifunctional monoclonal antibody with binding sites directed to human EpCAM and the human T cell antigen CD3 (anti-EpCAM x anti-CD3). Nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL) is a distinct subtype of Hodgkin lymphoma in which T-cell subsets have not been studied specifically. We reviewed 24 cases of NLPHL and compared flow cytometric results with those of 13 progressively transformed germinal centers (PTGC) cases, 78 nonspecific reactive hyperplasia (RH) cases, and 31 classical Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL) cases. A double-positive (CD4+CD8+) T-cell population was present in 58% of NLPHL cases, constituting 10% to 38% of T cells.
