AIM: To assess the clinical, radiological and therapeutic aspects of the female urethral diverticula through a series of 27 cases.
METHODS: Twenty seven women, with a mean age of 36,2 years (range 22 to 62 years) presenting an urethral diverticula, were treated between 1990 and 2008. Clinical examination made diagnosis in all cases. The urethral diverticula were excised via a transvaginal approach in all cases but one who refused surgery.
RESULTS: twenty four patients had favorable immediate outcome. Diverticular recurrence was not reposted in any case. After a median follow-up of 22 months

We report two cases of localized left ventricular (LV) protrusion, an entity that has been described in the literature as aneurysm or diverticulum. Both cases had different outcomes from those previously reported. Little is known on the incidence and natural history of these rare anomalies, whose progression may be asymptomatic or lead to severe complications and death in the prenatal period. The therapeutic approach should be customized.

Zenker diverticulum is known as an adult disease which occurs as result of outpouching of pharyngeal mucosa through a weak zone in the posterior wall of the pharynx. Intraluminal duodenal diverticula are a rare congenital disorders, which usually become symptomatic in adults. In our case, recurrent pancreatitis was caused by an intraluminal duodenal diverticulum in a 26 year old woman. The diagnosis was established by CT scan and upper gastroduodenal endoscopy. The intraluminal diverticulum was resected after duodenotomy. In addition, annular pancreas was found during laparotomy. In this case, an intraluminal duodenal diverticulum caused acute pancreatitis and was associated with another anatomical abnormality.

Perforation of a jejunal diverticulum is a rare clinical entity. Its elusive clinical presentation often delays diagnosis resulting in high morbidity and mortality rates. We report a case where a female patient was treated conservatively for an intra-abdominal abscess of unknown origin. After three weeks, an exploratory laparoscopy was performed. The definitive diagnosis was an abscess resulting from a perforated solitary jejunal diverticulum.

We report a case of small cell carcinoma in a diverticulum of the bladder. A 64-year-old Japanese man visited our hospital with the chief complaint of urinary retention. Cystoscopy revealed a papillary tumor arising in a diverticulum on the right lateral wall of the bladder. Partial cystectomy was performed under the diagnosis of bladder cancer in the diverticulum. Duodenal diverticula are usually incidental findings, but some times could be complicated with inflammatory or pressures effects to pancreas tissue. We present a rare case of pancreatic abscess caused by a perforated diverticulum, arising from the distal end of the second part of the duodenum.

A fit three months old male baby was admitted in our hospital with a history of massive painless fresh rectal bleeding. Blood transfusion, hemodynamic stabilization and emergency laparotomy were necessary because of the high suspect of Meckel's diverticulum as the cause of bleeding. It is an uncommon case due to the low age of the patient and the severity of clinical presentation.
