I recognized fistulas between the stomach and descending duodenum and between the duodenal bulb and descending duodenum in three patients by upper gastrointestinal study. The many recent papers on the "double pylorus" together with these three previously unreported examples suggest that periduodenal fistulas are not infrequent complications of peptic ulcer disease. Crohn's disease is unlikely without appropriate history and other radiologic evidence. Congenital duplication is usually noncommunicating and most often occurs at the mid portion of the stomach's greater curvature. Awareness of vari

Two cases of extragenital granuloma inguinale are presented. A 41-year-old female presented with fever, a swollen knee joint and osteolytic lesions involving distal bones, and a 49-year-old male had multiple faecal fistulae in the lower abdomen with extensive involvement of pelvic organs. The diagnostic difficulties presented by such cases and the various types of extragenital pathology that have been described in this disease are discussed.

BACKGROUND: Intestinal failure (IF) is a rare but severe form of organ failure. The condition is defined as body's inability to absorb adequate fluids, macronutrients and minerals for growth and development, so that intravenous supplementation is necessary. A broad spectrum of diseases, trauma and complications of surgery might eventually end up with intestinal failure. Nowadays, intestinal failure patients are preferably cared for in intestinal rehabilitation units (IRU). Autologous gastrointestinal reconstruction (AGIR) refers to non-transplant operative management of IF patients designed to

Chronic radiation intestinal injury denotes the repeated and prolonged damage of intestine caused by radiotherapy to pelvic malignancy, which usually occurs after three months of radiotherapy. Surgical intervention is indicated when the progressive intestinal injury leads to the development of massive intestinal hemorrhage, obstruction, perforation, fistula and other late complications. However, there is no consensus on the surgical procedures. We illustrate the dilemma in surgical treatment from the points of pathological mechanism and the frequent sites of radiation intestinal injury. Meanwh
