[Visceral multiple angiomatosis. Clinical case and review of the literature].

It is presented a case of a 62-year old male, with an illness of two months duration suggestive of an hepatic abscess; six months prior to admission he had surgery done because of a suspected cholelitiasis. Because of treatment failure and taking into account the result of the hepatic punctures (dark blood) with decreasing size of the liver, it was assumed to be a case of angioma. His intrahospital evolution was poor and died in hypovolemic shock complicated with acute pulmonary edema despite medical efforts. The post mortem study showed: a 13 cm. cavernous hepatic angioma, variable number of

First pathologically confirmed case of concurrent primary renal cell carcinoma and metastatic lung adenocarcinoma in the same kidney.

BACKGROUND: The coexistence of a primary tumor and a histologically distinct metastasis within the same organ presents a rare diagnostic dilemma, challenging the classical criteria for multiple primary malignant neoplasms (MPMNs). We report the first pathologically confirmed case of synchronous primary clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and metastatic lung adenocarcinoma within the same kidney. CASE DESCRIPTION: A patient with tumors in the left lung, right femur, and left kidney underwent laparoscopic left nephrectomy. Postoperative pathology surprisingly identified two distinct lesions:

Collision Tumor in the Stomach: Tubular Gastric Adenocarcinoma With Metastatic Adrenocortical Carcinoma-A Rare Encounter on an Endoscopic Biopsy.

Collision tumors are rare neoplastic entities characterized by the coexistence of two histologically distinct malignancies within the same organ, separated by an abrupt interface without transitional morphology. Gastric collision tumors are exceptionally uncommon, and their endoscopic and pathological features remain poorly defined. Here, we report a gastric collision tumor composed of a primary gastric tubular adenocarcinoma and metastatic adrenocortical carcinoma. Adrenocortical carcinoma is a highly aggressive malignancy characterized by marked local invasiveness and a strong propensity for

Multifocal cerebral and orbital neoplastic lesions in a 2-year-old child: a case report and literature review emphasizing diagnostic uncertainty and ethical decision-making.

BACKGROUND: Multifocal cerebral and orbital neoplastic lesions in early childhood are exceptionally uncommon. Multiple lesions may occur in the context of cancer predisposition syndromes or prior irradiation; in our patient, no syndromic stigmata or prior cranial irradiation were clinically evident, but a genetic predisposition could not be excluded because molecular testing was not performed. CASE PRESENTATION: A previously healthy 2-year-old girl presented with chronic headache and progressive right-sided proptosis. MRI and CT identified six anatomically distinct lesions: an intraocular ret

Breast Cancer Metastasis to a Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Comprehensive Review with Emphasis on Novel Immunohistochemical Tools.

Cancer-to-cancer metastasis is an exceptionally rare phenomenon, with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) being the most commonly reported recipient tumor. According to the criteria established by Campbell et al, true cancer-to-cancer metastasis requires evidence of two distinct primary neoplasms and histologic confirmation of metastatic infiltration from one tumor into the other. Breast carcinoma metastasizing to clear cell renal cell carcinoma (clear cell RCC) is particularly uncommon, with only eight living patients reported to date. We report a rare instance of pleomorphic lobular breast carcinoma

Cutaneous Myoepithelial Carcinoma Arising Within Syringocystadenoma Papilliferum.

Benign and malignant tumors derived from myoepithelial cells represent a rare group of tumors that may arise from salivary gland as well as breast, lung, and more rarely, skin. Cutaneous lesions showing myoepithelial origin include benign mixed tumor of skin (chondroid syringoma) in addition to much less common tumors composed entirely of myoepithelial cells, including benign myoepithelioma and malignant myoepithelial carcinoma. Variability in morphologic and phenotypic findings may result in a diagnostic challenge, especially in pure myoepithelial neoplasms. While some myoepithelial neoplasms

Intraspinal collision tumor comprising a schwannoma and ependymocytoma: a rare case study and literature review.

Collision tumors, a rare phenomenon wherein two tumors with different histological features appear in the same anatomical region, present a challenging clinical diagnosis, particularly in the context of intraspinal collision tumors. This study reports the clinical data of a patient with an intraspinal collision tumor composed of schwannomas and ependymomas. A 47-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital with a six-month history of lumbosacral pain and numbness in both lower extremities. Lumbar magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed two space-occupying lesions in the L1-2 spinal canal, whi

Synchronous primary gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma and colon adenocarcinoma: A case report and literature review.

RATIONALE: Gallbladder (GB) malignancy is the most common biliary malignancy; however, squamous cell carcinoma of the gallbladder (GBSCC) is extremely rare. Synchronous primary GB and colon cancers are very rare, but they are still adenocarcinomas. PATIENT CONCERNS: The patient was a 68-year-old male who had symptoms of anemia and underwent a comprehensive examination. Irregular thickening of the GB wall and localized bowel wall thickening in the ascending colon were observed. DIAGNOSES: Colonoscopy revealed a large mass in the ascending colon, and adenocarcinoma was diagnosed by biopsy. IN

[A Resected Case of Simultaneous Perihilar Cholangiocarcinoma and Hepatocellular Carcinoma with Preoperative Diagnosis].

A 66-year-old man referred to our department due to liver dysfunction, and a close examination revealed wall thickening of the common hepatic duct and a tumor localized in the hepatic S8. Bile duct and liver biopsies resulted in a diagnosis of duplicate perihilar cholangiocarcinoma and hepatocellular carcinoma. Based on the evaluation of the tumor progression, we judged that both tumors could be curatively resected by right hepatectomy plus extrahepatic bile duct resection, and the patient was decided to undergo a primary resection. The postoperative course has no complications, and the final

Concomitant carcinoma in situ as a prognostic factor in the upper tract urothelial carcinoma after radical nephroureterectomy: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

PURPOSE: Some excised specimens of upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) are concomitant carcinoma in situ (CIS). However, whether concomitant CIS affects the prognosis of UTUC is controversial. The objective of this study was to provide a comprehensive association between CIS and the prognosis of UTUC. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Web of Science, PubMed, and Embase were searched to identify clinical studies about CIS and UTUC before July 2019. Newcastle Ottawa Scale was used to evaluate the quality of the literature. We calculated hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% CIs to evaluate the relationship betw

[Cancer of the Ascending Colon Diagnosed at the Same Time as Breast Cancer Following Leukemia Treatment for Which Laparoscopic Surgery Was Performed-A Case Report].

An 83-year-old woman received 8 courses of chemotherapy(mogamulizumab)for adult T cell leukemia in the hematolo- gy department of our hospital, after which she achieved complete remission and was followed up with chemotherapy(VP/ MST: sobuzoxane/etoposide)as an outpatient. Later, diarrheal symptoms appeared, and detailed examinations led to a diagnosis of cancer of the ascending colon. Although no distal metastasis was found, breast cancer was also revealed in the C area of the right breast. The general status of the patient was favorable; thus, right pectoral muscle-conserving mastectomy and

Synchronous benign Brenner's tumor of ovary with leiomyoma and endometrial adenocarcinoma in a postmenopausal female.

Brenner tumors of ovary are usually an incidental finding. It is an uncommon tumor which is seen affecting women of fifth to sixth decade. It is classified under transitional cell tumors of ovary, which includes benign, borderline, and malignant Brenner tumors and transitional cell carcinoma. These tumors have been associated with synchronous and metachronous neoplasia, most commonly other ovarian epithelial tumors such as mucinous cystadenoma. Occasionally, these tumors may be associated with endometrial hyperplasia or carcinomas which are due to hormones elaborated by the stromal component o

Coexistence of Adult Onset Eruptive Syringoma and Bilateral Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Case Report.

Eruptive syringoma is an unusual variant of syringoma, which usually presents before or during puberty. It typically occurs in large numbers as multiple yellow-brown-colored papules, which may show spontaneous regression. Because some authors have proposed that it could present as a reactive process of eccrine ducts to an inflammatory reaction caused by an unknown trigger, the exact pathomechanism is still unclear. There are also reports in the literature on the association of eruptive syringoma in Down syndrome, diabetes, milium, sarcoidosis, and psychiatric disorders. Some reports in the lit

Melanoma in situ and syringoma: a rare collision tumor. Clinical-pathological report of a case.

Collision or contiguous tumors, defined as two or more distinct tumors occurring at one site, are often an unexpected finding and may represent a diagnostic challenge, as clinical and histological presentations do not always coincide. Various combinations of collision tumors have been described with respect to melanocytic lesions, with the most frequently reported being the combination of nevus and basal cell carcinoma. We present an unusual case on the nose involving a melanoma in situ and a clinically-inapparent syringoma, which, to the best of our knowledge, is the first report of this comb

Mucosal Melanoma Originating From the Eustachian Tube.

A 77-year-old man was referred with a 4-month history of hearing impairment and ear fullness of the left ear. Otoscopic examination revealed an effusion in the left middle ear, and nasal endoscopic examination revealed a dark polypoid lesion at the opening of the left Eustachian tube. In addition to the lesion of the Eustachian tube, a dark mucosal lesion was seen at the posterior choana and the posterior end of the nasal septum. Endoscopic biopsy was done and pathologic result was consistent with malignant melanoma. Wide surgical excision with postoperative radiotherapy was performed; multipl

Two rare cases of appendiceal collision tumours involving an appendiceal mucinous neoplasm and carcinoid.

We report two rare cases of appendiceal collision tumours, each involving an appendiceal mucinous neoplasm with a concomitant appendiceal carcinoid. The first case presented with acute appendicitis while the second presented with an incidental radiological finding of an enlarged appendix as part of evaluation for raised serum carcinoembryonic antigen. Diagnosis in both cases was made postoperatively on histological assessment following appendicectomy. Clinical and histological features of both tumour types in each case did not necessitate further surgical resection or adjuvant treatment. Both

Coexistent mesenteric and ovarian mature cystic teratomas: a case report.

This report describes the first documented case of coexistent mesenteric and gonadal teratomas in an adult female patient. Physical examination of a 51-year-old Korean woman referred for treatment of abdominal distension and pain revealed two masses in both the right upper abdomen and in the right pelvic region. Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen and pelvis showed the presence of well-defined, complex, fat-dense mass lesions in the upper abdomen and pelvic cavity. A large cystic mass located in the retroperitoneal space extending from the mesenteric border at the level of the transverse c

Trilateral retinoblastoma with unilateral eye involvement.

Retinoblastomas (RB) are the main forms of intraocular tumor in childhood, with a worldwide incidence of 1 case per 15,000 to 20,000 live births. Trilateral RB (RBT) is a rare combination of unilateral or bilateral RB with a midline intracranial neoplasm of neuroblastic origin, usually found in the pineal region or the suprasellar region, presenting variable incidence of 0.5% up to 6% among patients with RB. The article reports a case of unilateral RBT in a patient treated at Hospital A.C.Camargo.
