Simultaneous bilateral robotic-assisted laparoscopic procedures in children.

Our main objective is to report the feasibility of performing simultaneous robotic-assisted laparoscopic (RAL) heminephrectomy with contralateral ureteroureterostomy in children with bilateral duplicated systems. Three female children with bilateral congenital renal/ureteral anomalies underwent concurrent RAL simultaneous unilateral partial nephrectomy with ureterectomy and contralateral ureteroureterostomy with redundant ureterectomy using a four/five-port approach. Mean age at repair was 32.9 months (range 7-46 months) and mean weight was 13.7 kg (range 10.4-13.6 kg). The RAL heminephrourete

Robotic-Assisted Ureteral Re-implantation: A Case Series.

INTRODUCTION: Minimally invasive surgical techniques are currently used for numerous urologic disorders and generally offer decreased morbidity and equivalent outcomes compared with open surgery. There is a relative paucity of data on robot-assisted ureteral re-implantation (RAUR) in adult patients for benign stricture disease. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed our recent experience with mid-/distal ureteral reconstruction at a single tertiary-care center. From 2010 to 2012, 13 consecutive patients presenting with benign obstruction of mid-/distal ureters were managed with RAU

Robotic surgery for rectosigmoid junction tumor with ovarian metastases.

Isolated ovarian metastases from colorectal cancer (CRC) are rare disease presenting in approximately 3% of all patients undergoing colorectal resection. Most reports describe an open approach to the disease, but we report a case isolated ovarian metastases from CRC managed completely by robotic technique. A 54-year-old female, with a family history of CRC, was admitted for rectosigmoid junction cancer. Computed tomography scan demonstrated in rectosigmoid tumor and pelvic mass, presumed as teratoma. Robotic surgery discovered a 10-cm encapsulated tumor, attached to the left ovary, with no mac

Robotic-assisted mitral valve repair: surgical technique.

Robotic-assisted mitral valve repair represents the least invasive surgical approach currently available for anatomical mitral valve repair in patients with myxomatous mitral valve disease. Standard mitral valve repair techniques utilized during conventional sternotomy/right thoracotomy are exactly replicated with the robotic instrumentation through 1-2 cm port-like incisions with superior 3D visualization. This is performed on cardiopulmonary bypass by peripheral cannulation of the femoral vessels/right internal jugular vein. The ascending aorta is occluded with a transthoracic aortic cross-c
