Rapid superpulse carbon dioxide laser treatment of urethral condylomata.

Complete eradication of urethral condylomata was accomplished by rapid super-pulsed carbon dioxide laser in 4 patients. Minimal postoperative discomfort and lack of stricture formation indicate that this new modality is an advantageous, fast, and secure method of management of intraurethral condylomata, and substantiated by our previous experimental reports.

The beneficial effect of 1% 5-fluorouracil in 70% ethanol on therapeutically refractory condylomas in the preputial cavity.

The effect of two daily applications of 1% 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in 70% ethanol on penile condylomas was investigated in 65 men. Complete cures were obtained in 37% and marked regression in 42% of the patients. The most pronounced effect was seen on warts in the preputial cavity and on the adjacent foreskin, where the efficacy of 1% 5-FU in ethanol was comparable to that of 5% 5-FU cream. However, the pronounced side effects observed with use of the 5-FU cream were reduced to negligibility by use of an alcoholic vehicle for the drug. Patients who have therapeutically refractory condylomas in o

2024 recommendations for the therapeutic management of anogenital warts.

INTRODUCTION: Anogenital warts (AGW) are benign epithelial skin lesions caused mainly by the human papillomavirus (HPV, types 6 and 11) but are sometimes associated with other oncogenic HPV types. They have a high rate of post-treatment recurrence. There are many guidelines, but they do not prioritise treatments. Therapeutics are classified as either self-administered or clinician applied. The aim of this study was to propose recommendations for the management of AGW. METHOD: These recommendations were based on a systematic review of the literature by a working group (WG) with no links of int

British association for sexual health and HIV national guideline for the management of anogenital warts in adults (2024).

This guideline offers recommendations on the diagnosis, treatment and health promotion principles needed for the effective management of human papillomavirus (HPV)-related warts at anogenital sites including the external genitals, vagina, cervix, urethra, perianus and anal canal. The guideline is aimed primarily at patients aged 16 years or older presenting to healthcare professionals working in level 3 sexual health services in the United Kingdom. However, the principles of the recommendations may be applied in other care settings, including in primary care, using locally adapted care pathway

Transcriptional analysis reveals distinct gene expression profiles of three bowenoid papulosis patients.

Bowenoid papulosis (BP) is a benign and possibly carcinogenic disease associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, which has been increasingly recognised and paid attention to in recent years, but the potential mechanisms still remain unclear. In our study, three patients who were diagnosed with BP were enrolled into our research. Skin biopsies were taken and were separated into two parts, one part was for HE staining and the others were for RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq). All the three patents were human papillomavirus (HPV) positive and HE staining revealed typical skin histopathological

Verrucous Carcinoma Arising in an Extended Giant Condyloma Acuminatum.

A 43-year-old heterosexual Tunisian man presented to the dermatology department with complaints of a genital friable mass. He had a past medical history of chronic hepatitis B. He was married and had a history of multiple sexual partners. The lesion had been present for over 10 years and gradually increased in size, disfiguring his genitalia. It had a major impact on his quality of life, preventing sexual intercourse and resulting in poor personal hygiene. On physical examination, the vegetative lesion presented as a giant cauliflower-like tumor (Figure 1) with a foul smell. The tumor involved

Intralesional bivalent human papilloma virus vaccine as a treatment for anogenital warts versus topical podophyllin resin 25%: A pilot study.

A role of human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccines as a therapy for genital warts was suggested, nevertheless; it has not been established in clinical trials and has yet to be determined. The objective of this study is to evaluate a potential benefit of intralesional injection of bivalent HPV (Cervarix) vaccine as a treatment for anogenital warts versus topical podophyllin resin 25%. Forty-four patients with anogenital warts were included in the study, 22 patients received intralesional Cervarix every 2 weeks until clearance of lesions or for a maximum of five sessions. The other 22 patients recei

HPV Vaccination: Does It Have a Role in Preventing Penile Cancer and Other Preneoplastic Lesions?

OBJECTIVES: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection globally, which causes nearly all cervix carcinomas and contributes to oropharyngeal, penile, vulva, vagina, and anal cancers. Despite the role of HPV in several preneoplastic and cancerous lesions in men, male vaccine coverage is low. This article aims to provide insights into the pathophysiology of HPV-related penile cancer and penile intraepithelial neoplasia (PeIN). Moreover, this review endeavors to outline the advantages of implementing HPV vaccination in male vaccination programs and the role of hea

[Not Available].

Patients with genital HPV lesion, as well as partners, usually present higher psychological stress, than the actual medical consequences of the lesion. Follow-up of these patients should be based on education and counseling. HPV molecular tests are not recommended as a follow-up test, or for screening partners. Development and implementation of protocols, by the centers or units, that follow these patients, are recommended.

Immunothrombotic Mechanisms Induced by Ingenol Mebutate Lead to Rapid Necrosis and Clearance of Anogenital Warts.

Ingenol mebutate (IM) is highly effective in the treatment of human papillomavirus (HPV)-induced anogenital warts (AGW) leading to fast ablation within hours. However, the exact mode of action is still largely unknown. We performed dermoscopy, in vivo confocal microscopy (CLM), histology, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence to gain insights in mechanisms of IM treatment in AGW. In addition, we used in vitro assays (ELISA, HPV-transfection models) to further investigate in vivo findings. IM treatment leads to a strong recruitment of neutrophils with thrombosis of small skin vessels wit
