Game-Based Learning for Learners With Disabilities-What Is Next? A Systematic Literature Review From the Activity Theory Perspective.

The design, implementation, and outcome of game-based learning for learners with disabilities have not been sufficiently examined systematically. Particularly, learner-based and contextual factors, as well as the essential roles played by various stakeholders, have not been addressed when game-based learning applications are used in special education. Therefore, a systematic literature review using the Activity Theory (AT) was conducted to analyse studies about game-based learning for learners with disabilities. Content analysis of 96 studies reported relevant information with respect to each

Simulation and virtual reality in medical education and therapy: a protocol.

Continuing medical education has historically been provided primarily by didactic lectures, though adult learners prefer experiential or self-directed learning. Young physicians have extensive experience with computer-based or "video" games, priming them for medical education--and treating their patients--via new technologies. We report our use of standardized patients (SPs) to educate physicians on the diagnosis and treatment of biological and chemical warfare agent exposure. We trained professional actors to serve as SPs representing exposure to biological agents such as anthrax and smallpox

AI-Enhanced Virtual Simulation as an Adjunct to Skills Laboratory and Clinical Training in Radiography Education: A Commentary from Somalia and Other Resource-Constrained Settin.

Radiography education requires repeated practice in positioning, exposure selection, image evaluation, communication, and radiation protection. Virtual simulation can provide safe rehearsal before clinical exposure, but virtual reality, conventional digital simulation, and artificial intelligence (AI)-enhanced simulation are distinct technologies and their evidence should not be conflated. This commentary examines how AI-enhanced virtual simulation could complement, rather than replace, physical skills laboratories and supervised clinical training in Somalia and other resource-constrained educ
